I'm no engineer but... is building theft a common Ottawa problem? I just have to worry about my bike and lawnmower here...

Yeah, strange wording there. I guess they think it could have been a demo crew, but clearly it just fell.

And they submitted proposal that fits exactly within the zoning last year. Some people suspect they knew the parking structure was very near the end of its life.

A house in my old neighbourhood in London collapsed this morning from the weight of the wet snow on the roof, but this is something else.

This lot was always sketchy. I used it a couple of times to park for the race weekend around 2013-19. Stairwells always smelled like piss. Only reason I parked there back in the day because it was free on weekends.

Glad I never was flattened.

Ottawa's new Civic Hospital parking garage is progressing. The structure is probably complete by now, but the design of the roof top park continues to evolve.

Parking garage is on the right.

it will have an indoor link at the top across the parking. At the end of that link should be a link (skywalk or underground) to Dow's Lake O-Train Station. The roof will have a café, and at some point previously they spoke of washrooms.

Other than regular stairs and elevators, it will also have a ramp system with a nature walk from ground level to the top.
