Do you support the CFL reducing the field length to 100 yards and shrinking end zones to 15 yards with goal posts on the back line ?

This will lead to a major upheaval of amateur and youth football in Canada.

Not really, they are not required to follow.

BC Highs Schools play US rules right now

The redimensioning of the field and moving of goalposts are intertwined, they are not separable.

You can't do one without the other.

I would however like to see retention of the 20 yard end zone, just place the goal post 5 yards from the end line. Then you can still do deep throws.

If the CFL wanted to be Really unique they could place the goalposts on the 30 yard lines. But that would look bizarre.

You can only vote once in each poll but you can vote in both polls.

The biggest headache will be with canadian University teams. A handful of teams play in CFL stadiums. They will play on the new CFL field, but the visiting teams will not be used to the new dimensions, giving the home team another advantage.

There is no indication that the universities want to spend any money adjusting their campus fields just because the CFL wants to do it. Money is already tight for the universities and they will not appreciate the expense of the adjustments.

The CFL has already said if USports does not adopt the rules the league will be responsible for switching the stadium set ups in Calgary, Sask, Wpg and Montreal between both configurations. Moves the posts and re-paint the lines. Sask and Montreal need new turf without the lines stitched in, but both are due for turf replacement.

Re: university stadiums, how many are used for CFL team training camps? That may have a bearing on university stadium field changes and who pays for them. I can't see a team training in a place that's not set up like what they'll be playing in, though they could opt for some operational changes during scrimmages that use the entire field (such as only playing with 100 yards, and using the 15 yards of field in front of goal posts as "endzone"... it would be a pain in the ass and require changes during scrimmage play, but may be do-able)

E.g., The Tiger-Cats have camped at McMaster and used Ron Joyce Stadium. The Argos have been doing it at U of Guelph. There must be others.

They just need to put yardage signs on the sidelines in practice, they should be able to adjust. 15 yard line is the goal line on the end they are running plays on and they go from there. I think they can figure it out.

There apparently needs to be one thread for every rule change the CFL is bringing in, along with the overall CFL thread.

You didn’t include a poll so I don’t know how to answer this.

They should be able to. For most situations.

But if playing a full field, such adjustments aren't all that possible. Long bomb plays would not be, at least.

Don't see why not, the full field is there to use. Scrimmage on the 15 to make sure the goal post behind you doesn't interfere, and the 15 at the other end is the simulated goal line to give you the full end zone with the goal post at the back still gives you 80 yards to work with. If that isn't enough field for your QB to work with, they are probably in the NFL then anyway lol

As I originally said, it "may have a bearing"... but if that leads to 1,000 arguments, sobeit.

What does Taylor Swift think?

Taylor Swift won't be at the Super Bowl but the Seahawks Sure Will !

let's hope for no repeat of 1989 with an Earthquake. Santa Clara seems risky.

sorry I can't post a poll without starting a new thread.

looks like both polls are split.
