Every now and then I get a dark roast coffee that is REALLY good. Then the rest of the time it just tastes like their normal coffee.

Although I'm in no position to complain. The pandemic turned me from a several times a week Tims guy into someone who goes just a few times a year now.

They leaked a lot, but the one thing I liked about them over the new ones is that the opening was better, so you could get a bigger sip of coffee. Also the flow out of the opening was smoother. With the new lids the opening is so small, it just doesn't flow as smoothly out of it.

LMAO. People complain about single use cups mechanics or their sustainability because they have less plastics in them? Environmentally friendly is using a reusable cup. This is not.

Tim Hortons has expanded a lot recently in Korea, they have 19 stores now and the plan is for 150. I've seen some youtubers go to it and its quite fancy and much more expensive compared to here, its more of a premium brand there.

The downfall of Tim Hortons.

A few things probably working against it there. I have to imagine it has pretty high rent given the location. I have read the store is pretty labour intensive and the basement public washrooms have been a problem with homeless people hanging around. Is it always busy? Or is it always busy 4 months of the year and then so-so the rest of the year? I can't imagine it's a very busy place on a snowy January day, especially without a drive thru.

I don't think a tourist Timmy's closing is indicative of a larger problem. Yes the place has gone to 🞵🞵🞵🞵 but I never see a location close that isn't replaced by a new one nearby and it's rare to not have a lineup at the drive thru most of the time during the day.

The food is basically the same overseas (maybe worse) but they can get away with charging higher prices because the brand doesn't have the same stigma it does in Canada. I always found it odd seeing Canadians, who are otherwise eager to wrap themselves in the flag over the most marginal things, turn their nose up at Tim Hortons - despite the fact that its probably our one of our most successful cultural exports.

Mediocre coffee, mediocre sandwiches.....rumour has it that they may still sell 1 or 2 types of (par-baked) donuts. Filthy lobbies and overflowing garbage bins. Brazilian ownership.

It makes me very proud to be a Canadian.

We have sadly lost quite a few of our Robin's here now. There are only six left I believe and three have closed in the last two years. I really hope we can keep the ones we have because at least they have a donut selection.

Somebody gave me a $25 gift card to Tim Hortons; it's been years since I've had their coffee. Was it always this bad? The dark roast tastes terrible, and their regular coffee has a strange flavour to it.

I'm sure Tim's will do just fine; there are enough suburbs, small towns, and seniors to keep them going.

Just going off of the small town I used to live in, Tim Horton's still dominates the coffee scene. I'm sure this situation plays out across Canada.

I think a lot of people forget how Tim's market operates.

The point is not to provide a quality product, it's to provide a cheap product and focus on volume. It's the Wal-Mart and Dollarama of fast food. It's popular not because the coffee is excellent, but because the coffee is passable and it's $1.90 for a medium, and you can get a donut and a coffee for $3 or lunch and a coffee for like $7.

Yes, just like how Longos or Loblaws is going to give you a better quality grocery experience than WalMart.. There are better coffee shops out there. But that's not the point. Tims works because it's cheap enough that people can go literally every day and not have to think about the cost of it. Tims restaurants thrive on customers buying coffee and often food literally daily. It's an outlet for people, many of who don't otherwise have the money to regularly eat out at higher quality restaurants, to be able to go out for food and have that experience.

About a month ago I did a trip to Ottawa and it was weird. First time using Tim's in a while.

At the airport in Victoria, I used the Tim's. There was a long line up, but no one using the automated kiosks. So I did the kiosk thing and jumped the queue.

In Ottawa popped into a Tim's same thing. There was a long line up and I used the kiosk to jump the queue. What was weird about that location is when I went to pickup my order I said was missing something, and the associate "solved" the problem by taking that item from another order. The person in front of me had a similar problem and it was also solved by assembling his order from random parts of other peoples orders. That does not sound like a great SOP but it is what it is.

Am I the only one that uses their self-serve kiosk or did I just go to two weird locaitons?

I use the app for Tim's. I've found their kiosks to be out of order a lot of the time. Not with a sign, they just fail at some stage of whatever I'm trying to do.

McDonalds' kiosks are just as unreliable. 50% of the time, they don't print out a ticket or give you a number.

Christmas Day, I went to the Tim's on the 401 just west of Woodstock, since none of the ones in town were open. Placed an order on the app from the driveway, was there in 9 minutes, walked in grabbed the order and was home in just over 20 minutes from leaving. When I used to do this on Christmas Day in London, I'd sit in the drive thru for half an hour, and you couldn't use the app because none of them were open except for drive thru (maybe 5 in London). I started doing this maybe 15 years ago when our house became Christmas central for my wife's family, so it was my way of getting some peaceful quiet time to myself in the afternoon before everyone showed up, but I would make it out like a big act of kindness that I was willing to go get my wife and daughter their cup of tea lol.
