Hello, as I am from Vancouver, and new to the SSP Winnipeg thread, I am hoping that this is an appropriate enough thread to post about the renewed railway from Winnipeg to Churchill.
Given the masterful ease with the suddenness of the geopolitical challenges of the present moment that Canada has worked its way around in defense, trade and commerce, it is well understood that Churchill will take on a vastly new and expanded role as a major seaport for commodities, most of which will be delivered by train, of necessity, via Winnipeg.
Winnipeg in many ways personifies Canadian resilience. Until the 1920s it was the third city of Canada, anbd a sort of "Canadian Chicago," a small but necessary rail hub. Vancouver pvertook it as the third city around 1930, placing Winnipeg at fourth position, that position now solidly occupied by Calgary, that city Canada's Prairie Hub city with many petro-HQs, airline dest'ns and the manifestations of its wealth and corporate power.
But this is Winnipeg, solid and reliable, and, despite the harsh climate, affordable and given good marks for quality of life. The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is known worldwide for its artistic excellence. /// But back to the main point, I rather think that due to the future increase in rail traffic to Churchill, and the necessity of more commerce-related corporate premises in Winnipeg itself, the city will see a future boom: bigger, more buildings, taller buildings, more culture, more airlines, more everything.

Just keep that Winnipeg friendliness.
