They aren't willing to say where it will be placed, but, I have reason to suspect it will be located in Riverview.
Didn't the site plan for the Riverview Mall mention medical on one of the spaces? If Riverview, this could be where it will go.

I think Riverview Place is where it will go.

This came up on my feed today -

Availability of Space (AOS) – SNB – Moncton Depot 2026
Information requested on potential space available for lease - Greater Moncton

https://www2.snb.ca/content/snb/en/moncton-depot.html

Quote:
Service New Brunswick (SNB) is seeking information regarding the potential availability of approximately 15,000 to 20,000 square feet of rentable space in an existing or renovated building that is, or will become, available within the Greater Moncton area.

The space would be required for an anticipated occupancy in 2026.

Moncton set new building permit record of $477.9M in 2024: city

Quote:
The City of Moncton says it issued $477.9 million in building permits in 2025, breaking the previous record of $366 million set in 2022.
The previous record for building permit valuation has been blown out of the water. The current valuation of $477.9M is 30.6% higher than the previous record.

This is on top of a record $100M of building permits issued by Riverview. The Dieppe stats have not been released yet, but, if this is also not a record, I will be very surprised. I imagine it will come in in the range of $250M or so.

I would suspect the tri-community area will have in the range of $850M of building permit value issued in 2025.

These are just approved permits right? Like there's no guarantee they won't change a la St. Bernard Place?

In any case, I am glad that we are still seeing an upswing to construction in the city. Last year's news on curtailing immigration, and the recently revealed population growth stats being less stellar than the few prior years, has sent waves of worry that the growth might stall as well. I hope Moncton continues to punch above its weight so that our momentum can continue.

I don't believe there was a permit issued for St. Bernard Place before plans changed, just zoning changes. Getting a permit is usually the step that means work is about to start, since if there are changes to what was permitted, the developer usually has to go back to city hall.

Codiac Transpo embarks on growth plan for city bus service
Consultant's report provides eight-year plan to improve bus service and encourage more people to use it

Codiac Transpo says its ridership has doubled since 2022, now serving more than 3.5 million riders per year over 40 routes, 52 buses and 125 employees.
Quote:
During the first phase, priorities will include expanding service to Ryan Street, Lewisville Road, Harrisville Boulevard, and Assomption Boulevard. The second phase will extend to other growing residential areas. As this occurs, there will be a need to upgrade equipment, including bus stops and shelters.

I would take the bus for work and leave the car at home. But an hour and a half from Runnymead, Riverview to Baig in the Moncton Industrial Park, half of that walking.... no thanks. 10 Min drive in the car. I'm sure it works well for other people though based on the ridership.

I'm sure the greatest reason for the exploding Codiac Transpo ridership is our increasing immigrant population.

I drive by NBCC on my way into work every morning, and frequently pass by as a bus is unloading. It's hard to imaging how many people they can actually pack on a bus, and almost every single one of them is non-white.

This by the way is not a racist statement, merely an observation.......

Good to see Moncton taking a serious look at Public Transport in general.

It's probably a bit early, but a smart city council should probably start doing some studies on LRT routes through the city so they can start getting the land and right of ways before land prices, NIMBYism and other issues put up too many roadblocks.

I think this is what 95% percent of cities across Canada are faced with. The transport chicken and the egg.

Right now, most people who have the means to afford a car will choose a car because the time it takes to get to their destination / work, is so much longer.

(although looking at SJ transit) for me, it takes either 10 minutes to drive to work or a minimum 45-55 minutes on a bus. Which is bonkers. I think cities especially in the Maritimes should be focusing on really planning out their transit routes and times now. So when we hit 25+ years in the future with population growth, the infrastructure is there.

But it's the same issue as people complaining about bike lines. The moment they are up, you'll get comments saying, waste of space, nobody uses them. Well maybe not now, but it's not meant for right now, it's for now and 20+ years down the line. If someone moves to the city and sees a bike lane that gets them to work in 10 minutes vs 10 minutes driving and paying for parking, maybe you'll have another car off the road during the day.

Sorry big rant lol happy Moncton is looking at planning transit! Transit should be used for everyone and anyone like bigger cities. Instead of the weird stigma, the poors and immigrants take the bus only.

If I had to commute to work, I would 100% be using my eBike daily up to the point where winter conditions would prevent me to do so, then I would use my car as backup. I would avoid the bus at all cost until no other options are available.

eBikes are the best!

I will probably get one this summer after I retire. They are stealthy and easy to maneuvre. They would be a great way to get around and keep an eye on development sites around the city.

CBC article regarding the same:

Moncton transit plan calls for longer hours, more coverage and 15-minute frequency
8-year plan also asks for transit priority measures, integration with Riverview, Dieppe
Erica Butler · CBC News · Posted: Jan 28, 2026 6:00 AM AST | Last Updated: 8 hours ago
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-bruns...hours-more-coverage-eventually-9.7063856

Quote:
Codiac Transpo director Angela Allain said changes in the first year of the plan would focus on some routing efficiencies, especially for route 66 Caledonia, which connects to Moncton High school.
Quote:
The plan calls for about $1.2 million in new spending in 2027 and 2028, adding a new bus to the fleet, eight new staff and about 8,500 additional service hours, including extended Sunday hours, service on some statutory holidays and running some buses later on weekdays and Saturdays.

From 2029 to 2033, the plan calls for an additional $3 million in funding to add eight new buses, 18 new staff and just under 20,000 new service hours.
Quote:
The restructuring proposes three "frequent" routes: the 50 Red Line connecting city hall to the hospitals and Mapleton Road, the 51 Green Line running along Mountain Road, and the 61 running along Elmwood, McLaughlin and Mapleton.

Those routes would see buses coming every “15 minutes or better” during peak hours, said Stevenson, “so it's super convenient, and there's always a bus there waiting for you.”

Map shows only Moncton lines, but not interconnecting services to Dieppe and Riverview.

Quote:
The plan also includes suggested improvements to bus shelters and stops, and the introduction of what is known as "transit priority" to Moncton streets.

Transit priority can run the gamut from dedicated bus lanes to special traffic signals. Measures like bus lanes “can be expensive,” said Stevenson, “and not every city has the right of way or the road width to be able to support something like that.”

“What we're mostly recommending for transit priority is signal priority,” said Stevenson, which involves buses being able to ‘ping’ the lights at intersections, changing lights earlier, and getting buses through faster.

This just showed up on CCD Canada:

NB - MONCTON
BALL HOCKEY COMPLEX, MONCTON
NEW BALL HOCKEY COMPLEX
$3,793,000
This no doubt is the same company that is building a ball hockey complex in Saint John. They did say they were interested in doing the same in <pncton and Freddy.

No idea yet where it is going to be built.

There’s another one on CCD today for Freddy.

Of note is that Knapper said that Moncton will be up and running around 2 years after the Saint John one, and then Fredericton will be around 2 years after Moncton.

Next Tuesday’s agenda:
https://www5.moncton.ca/docs/councilmeetings/2026/Agenda/2026_02_17_Agenda_Ordre_du_jour.pdf

Note there’s seems to be quite a lot of rezoning. I’m not sure why but it seems we are seeing a surge in proposals once again.
