Dollarama is coming to the Torbay Road Mall. They are not closing any nearby locations. Whiterose and Fall River locations are pretty close but the Elizabeth Avenue location is maybe 5 minutes away......on foot. (Previously posted this on the Avalon Mall thread by mistake)

UPDATE: Toulon, the owner of the Torbay Road Mall, now has Dollarama listed on their floor plan on their website.

Zellers is coming back with a new 60,000 sq ft store in Edmontons.
The Zellers brand was acquired from Hudson’s Bay Co. by the company that owns Fairweather and International Clothiers. Be interesting to see if they eventually return to St. John’s.

I was in NLC at Blackmarsh Road Dominion the other day and one of the employees told me that location is closing in a few weeks. There will be a new NLC opening in Churchill Square in the old Shoppers location.

Construction has started on the corner of Kenmount and Mount Carson on what was rumored to be Irving and Tim Hortons.

Former Walmart Topsail road

Looked in and saw some renovation work happening in the old Walmart space. Wondering if anyone knows what's going in there. TIA

I think there’s some kind of commercial school going there. I saw an approval for a commercial school sign for 466 Topsail Road in the city’s October council minutes. I think that’s the former Walmart space.

I heard someone say recently that the liquor store on Topsail Road was moving up there - but obviously that would only take some of the space. Maybe they are going to subdivide it into a bunch of smaller spaces.

Its funny because years ago Kmart was there and then a couple of stores including Kelly's Stereo and thr Sobeys. I believe Sobeys expanded to take in the other stores. So it would be interesting to see this broken into smaller stores again.

Theres a lot of vacant space on Hamlyn Rd too.

Had breakfast at the new Stacked Pancake house on White Rose Drive this morning. It was ok…just ok. Cora’s and Pur & Simple are still better. While I was there, noticed that Soft Moc Shoes has opened a new location in the same strip there, next to Mastermind Toys.

If it isn't any better than Cora's - which is just OK ( but with vile coffee ), then I won't bother. If I treat myself to a big breakfast it's going to be Pur & Simple.

Just drove by Toys "R" Us on Kenmount Road and they have "Store Closing" signs posted in their front windows. I figured this was inevitable unfortunately. They have been struggling in Canada and closing down stores across the country. It's too bad to see it go and people losing their jobs.

Now I wonder what could go in that large and very lucrative space which is run by Crombie Properties who also own Avalon Mall or will they chop it up into smaller retail spaces? Be interesting to see what happens.
