-1C with a wind chill of -4. Cloudy. Finally the nasty arctic is gone. We are due for a long-term pattern change.

Low of -7C (wind chill of -14) overnight. More snow.

The warmspot was Race Rocks, BC at 7.5C.

Warmest low was Saturna Island, BC at 4.9C.

Currently 2 and cloudy, supposed to clear up and reach 5 degrees. Not bad to get a March like day in January!

Tomorrow is forecasted to hit 11, very warm for this time of year - but lots of grey and rain. After Sunday, we are back to seasonal.

-1C and overcast in Moncton at 10 AM. No snow yesterday, just rain and some freezing rain.

Going up to +1C later today with occasional snow flurries.

The weather reminds me of when I was in Vancouver last winter. 6 degrees, damp ground, intermittent sun and cloud. Lovely fresh air.

Today was uneventful in Vancouver weatherwise; cloudy with a little sun and a high of about 6°C.

2C and overcast. Above freezing!!! I can barely believe this.

Low of -1C (wind chill of -5) last night.

The warmspot was Windsor, ON at 10.9C. Sunny conditions as well. I checked some webcams and was jealous. Those mild winter days there have no analog anywhere else in Canada. Even the sun is different with the southern latitude vs BC for example. The BC islands that are warmspots most of the time in the winter are all cloudy and very windy.

Warmest low was Discovery Island, BC at 4.7C.

He is right, coastal BC never has a sunny mild day in the winter Nothing on the south coast has ever compared to Windsor, Ontario today…

A lot more rain than usual this winter for Victoria, but some more sun this January. For example January 4th had a high of 9.8 and was a lovely sunny day after a spot of rain during the evening. Visual proof!

As for those BC islands that are the hotspots, several are really part of Victoria and not that much different from the rest of the city which is on a much bigger island! For example it's not cloudy on Discovery Island or Race Rocks and sunny in Victoria - it's the same weather. Race Rocks does get high winds as it's exposed in its location.

I feel like I need to provide proof of sunny warm days, lol. Anyways, yes, a warm winter day in Windsor would be lovely too there's no doubting that.

He is right in the sense that the sun would feel much stronger in Windsor than those areas of BC, by about 30%. I think we can all agree one of the most notable signs of spring is feeling the renewed strength of the sun. The sun in Windsor right now would be equivalent to early March in BC. Definitely a noticeable difference.

Hovering just above freezing so everything is slippery. Periods of fog and rain have significantly cut the snow from the first big storm days ago but there is still a lot around, everywhere, not just where it was piled up. It's basically only gone anywhere that was plowed or shoveled to the ground.

-5C and sunny in Moncton at 8 AM, going up to +2C this afternoon with showers developing.

+7C and rain tomorrow. This should take care of the 5 cm of snow on the ground (and the ice on my driveway).

More snow on the way on Sunday however. A very changeable pattern.

As I expected Denscity immediately bite the bait. So predictable.

Anyway I do not know all those Island so maybe some of them are sunny but everytime I look at wind readings, it's 50 km/h plus.

Also the sun's comment is 100% true, it's just geography.

12.4C right now in Windsor, ON. Highest temperature in 2026.

Up to 13.0C in Windsor now.

14.9C in Windsor and little after 11. Let's say how high they will go.

It's a beautiful morning here in Halifax. We dropped to 0.9 this morning at 8 am and currently sit at 1.1. The discussion above got me googleating this morning...

The sun rises in both cities at the same time today (8:06), and sets 48 minutes apart - 4:34 pm in Vancouver and 5:18 in Windsor.

By early March, the sun will set at 7:08 pm in Vancouver. Without a doubt, the sun's strength will be much stronger than a January sun in Windsor (we're talking UV index here, right?). I think you meant early February, which would make more sense.

It was cloudy with some sunny breaks and cool at 6C in Vancouver yesterday. The North Shore mountains got dumped on the night before.

Still waiting for winter to arrive, just feels more like a dull November. There are some golf courses in Kelowna and Penticton still open....This —.

Good news is that the B.C Snow pack is sitting at 130% of normal (normal being 100%), Revelstoke Resort for example is 20cm away from accumulating its most snow in over 20 seasons, and other mountains are having record breaking years for skier volume and accommodations, just the low elevations have been virtually snowless.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the below pic, I believe it is true that the sun energy is felt stronger in winter at lower latitudes. However, I also don't think this is the overwhelming influencer of air temperature in Canada. What we east of the Rockies really need is a proper northern east-west mountain range to keep the northern cold air up north where it belongs. But then there's that pesky Labrador current too.
