Currently -2C and a light snow shower in Moncton. Snow will start in earnest around 6 PM, but will last only about four hours, and, now they expecting no more than 10-12 cm.

There is pre-existing ice on my (steep) driveway, and, I received a reminder from my snow removal contractor that the snowblower might not be able to make the grade after the storm, so, I spread the last of my salt on the driveway this morning. Hopefully it will be enough........

I doubt Tancredi appreciates the logistics involved in snow removal here in Canada. You always have to be prepared (scraper, shovel, emergency kit, blanket in your car, snow tires with sufficient tread depth, salt and/or sand for the driveway, snow blower in the garage etc). The only thing he has to worry about in Sicily is not running out of his suncreen lotion.

Started the new year off with a frigid (-16) sunny morning, which is OK by me on account of the sun. Gradually gotten cloudier, however.

Per me è pura poesia, e sarei sempre più che pronto ad accoglierla. You should compare Canada's climate to that of all Europe, because it's more similar in size, it's not not just Sicily. Then it's not so bad in Europe. You are free to live anywhere in the EU, and have more climatic choices than we do in Canada. Today is about 5°C and cloudy in Vancouver. Buon Anno!

Speaking of my personal tastes, the climate I like most in Europe is that of Atlantic Norway (but it is not an EU state) because it is stormy and cold. However, it isn't very snowy—with the exception of some short stretches along the central-northern coast—and it doesn't experience the kind of extreme cold waves that occur in much of Canada. To find something better in the Old Continent, you have to head to the mountains. Eastern Europe is certainly colder, but it is very dry

-14C with a wind chill of -23 at noon. Got progressively colder as the day progressed. Sunny. January is starting very cold as well. This is insane.

-9C with a wind chill of -17 overnight.

The warmspot was Beaver Mines, AB at 8.9C. Warmest temperature of 2026 hehe.

Warmest low was Sartine Island, BC at 7.0C. Naturally, it's the warmest low this year.

New Year's Day was a nice day to go down to the beach with a few friends for a swim.
It was overcast, dry, calm and FRESH.

Thursday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 6 C, the low was 3 C.

-13C with a windchill of -22 in Moncton at 8 AM, with sunny skies.

We ended up with about 15 cm of snow yesterday which occurred in a very short time frame in the early evening (about two hours). The intensity of the squall was impressive.

Mostly clear weather for the upcoming week but continuing very cold, at least up to about Tuesday. This damned polar vortex just won't let go.

Havent reported much from my end about our weather as it seems to be the same every day. Grey dull and dreary, with temps hovering from 0c to +2c.

Still havent seen much for snow, which is a bit of a bummer, but we were above average for rain in December with roughly 36mm.

-11C with a wind chill of -17 and mainly sunny. Cold but it was a big "warm up" this afternoon.

Low of -23C (wind chill of -29) this morning.

The warmspot was Vancouver (Harbour), BC at 9.5C. New yearly high.

Warmest low was Solander Island, BC at 6.8C.

After 1.1 degrees below normal in November, we ended up 3.0 degrees below normal in December.

Ridiculous month in the Yukon but at least they had an above average November unlike us.

Whitehouse was 13C lower than normal? That is insane. Even something like 2C is statistically significant.
