well there are two long running opinions about that. one is yours, that its fine. the other is that its the infamous ‘mistake by the lake’ meaning who puts something like that on so much prime waterfront property?

of course back in the days the waterfronts in american cities where for shipping labor and industry, not recreation as is the focus these days.

in that light, the stadium might be going away for a dome stadium in suburban brookpark by the airport. we’ll see. personally i’m kind of on the fence about it, maybe leaning more toward it should be moved.

The reflective dog ears of the new Sherwin-Williams tower make a nice bookend to BP's dark and gloomy setbacks, with the stunning Terminal Tower and Key Tower in between.

Cleveland has always had one of my favorite skylines...

i grew up on the lakefront and never saw any water snakes, but i heard about them.

per the wiki they were rare until recently, due to industrial pollution no doubt, but with the loss of heavy industry it seems they have made a hell of a comeback in the 2000s.

I've seen water snakes in Lake Michigan (even came across one while swimming one time, which of course spooked the hell out of me), but only in more "wildernessy" areas over in Michigan and up in Wisconsin.

In 5 decades of living here, I've blessedly never seen a snake of any type in chicago, other than at the reptile house at Lincoln Park Zoo.
