No. Not in the slightest. Both WN and DL are very bullish on Austin and both have already made major expansion announcements for that airport. DL is also constructing one of the largest SkyClubs in the soon-to-be-expanded terminal (~35k SF).

If I read correctly, WN is going to have 18 gates and its station in Austin will become its busiest in Texas. DL is expanding to 15 gates.

The new satellite Concourse B will open around 2030 and have about 30 gates, initially. AUS will announce the Concourse B gate plan early in 2026.

Makes sense and look forward to it happening.

Plans can change. Delta just got approval to make their new sky club larger than it was going to be here at SAT in terminal C with an additional 10,000 sqft so they must have some desire to do more business here.

True. Plans can change. However, DL is not going to do what they are at AUS at SAT. SAT may see a few more routes. But, that's it.

Also, with regard to the SAT's SkyClub...the article stated: "an extra 10,000 square feet for Delta's airport lounge and the additional gate." That reads that the 10k SF includes both space for a new gate PLUS the lounge. Does anyone have more clarity on this???

Oh I agree we won’t see anything like Austin. I just mean that if Southwest is going to focus on Austin more and with their ongoing issues they’ve had with SAT could lead to Delta to try and — away a few more passengers from southwest if they offer additional flights and amenities.

That's definitely a possibility. However, their customer bases are different (including a customer's loyalty to one airline versus another). It will be most interesting to watch in the short-term.

If DL were to expand at SAT, I would expect them to compete routes to their hubs (first)...then, possibly, initiate routes to other locations. This would help DL maximize its profitability at the port.

Nice walkthrough. Maybe one of the architects grew up on the northeast side. My friends and I used to ride our bikes on the El Dorado Paseo all the time.

Great little walk through, its hard to really understand the scale with just the static renderings. Lots of thoughtful details in the design here (the patio on the north side of the concourse, bar at the end of the concourse with views of the airfield, the dramatic paseo at the entrance/exit, full height ceilings) that are really going to create the entrance that I think SA leaders were going for. Also... this is what a big city airport should look like.

I absolutely love all the landscape!
Saying that though as a person who travels I can also see no one hanging out in this space sadly. When you get to the airport you don't go and hang out in gardens. You got bags to check, and security to go through. I didn't get to watch the whole video and I didn't have audio turned on but if you could access this landscape area without having to go back through security this would be a great place to be if your flight is delayed for a few hours.
