/\ two feet in just one day, 126 cm over the few days of the storm. Totally paralyzed the city - I remember it beings so quiet because nothing was moving for several days. Then a couple days in I looked out the window (I lived on the edge of downtown) and I heard a snowmobile going down Pandora Ave. There were a few Prairie retirees who had them in their garages and they were enlisted to bring people to hospitals. Most of the roads were dug out by hand before any city plows could make it out - here's an AI summary:

Rained a bit this afternoon. My weather station crapped out after only two years. The previous one lasted six years. It was about 2 or 3 degrees, and is holding around there tonight.

Low of -12C (wind chill of -21) this morning. Beautiful sunshine. Beautiful only if you were inside that is.

Warmest low were Race Rocks and Sand Heads, BC at 5.9C.

Down to -55C in Yukon this morning. That is the coldest temperature recorded in Canada since 1999. Very major stuff.

Snowfall warning for Christmas day. And anywhere from a dusting to 10+cm tomorrow. The snow tomorrow is part of small clouds on the edge of the system so almost impossible to predict exactly where will get a lot.

It should be a green Christmas here in southeastern NB. Sunny tomorrow too, and a 60% chance of flurries on Christmas Day, so, it may turn white during the day, but won't meet the strict meteorological definition of a "White Christmas."

I will be spending Christmas Day in northern NS. My eldest son is hosting family Christmas this year at his in-laws cottage on a lake near Wentworth. There is snow down there because of sea-effect squall activity off the Northumberland Strait. So, personally I will be experiencing a white Christmas.

We got a small blanket of wet snow overnight, maybe around 3-4 cm in Toronto. Already melting as it's 2 right now, high of 5 with some rain. Looks like no white Christmas.

I'm not sure I'll be travelling to see my folks tomorrow. It looks like the two main routes out of Vancouver to Kelowna are closed. Coquihalla Highway has shut down due to a massive snowstorm, which caused multiple accidents, and the Hope-Princeton route is closed due to flooding/road washed out. The only other route is the Fraser Canyon Highway, but that's a single-lane road. It'll be absolute bedlam with everyone taking it for the holidays.

I suspected this might happen. We've had so much rain this month, and there doesn't seem to be a break coming. Another massive snowstorm is supposed to hit the mountain highways tonight and into tomorrow.

well the last few weeks we only got 13cm of snow, when we were predicted to have over 30. New storm may be up to 20cm tomorrow but hard to say.

Northern Alberta is reporting record levels of snow on the ground, Which is good since these are the areas that have had the worst wildfires the last few years.

Temps here will still be well below until Sat. currently -17 with lows to -26 but long range now says +2 to +6 by Sat

Yes, yesterday was bad. I got caught in some of the worst of it. It was one of those
days where you get home and shed everything and hang it up to dry.

So should wake up Xmas morning to snow on the ground.

Brutal December compared to last year. If I wasn't on the equal payment plan, my bill for this month would've shot up to $250.



Last year was less windy, with an average high of 6 (compared to 3 this year) and an average low of 1 (compared to minus 3 this year) according to Newfoundland Power, so that's the reason usage jumped so much.

I usually drive back once in the winter, and it's always hit or miss. I would have flown this year, but I didn't know if I'd get the days off until a couple of weeks ago.

I’m guessing it will be a mess.

There will be fluctuating freezing levels through the day as well, from near valley bottom to up to 1500 metres = slop and high avalanche risks.

The warmspot was Windsor, ON at 10.6C. Looks like it was sunny as well. It's another world down there. Extreme Southern Ontario is the closest area in the country to the huge mild spell in the Central US.

Warmest low were Race Rocks and Discovery Island, BC at 4.9C.

It's Tibb's Eve in Newfoundland. The evening of Dec. 23 is when we're free to abandon our families and celebrate Christmas with our friends. It's mostly a household thing, card games, video games, whatever people are into... but it's also a slightly-above-average (this year) Tuesday downtown lol
