City of Kamloops says vegetation clearing has begun as second route in, out of Juniper Ridge kicks into gear

The City of Kamloops says site work is now underway on a new $11.2-million route in and out of Juniper Ridge.

Juniper West is paying for it, so that means fully built out...

I still think it's precious how Juniper gets all the infrastructure like nothing exists East of them.
I'd love being able to go for a walk and not need to carry a flashlight.

Crane is up at TRU for the new indigenous building. I imagine it will move ahead quickly now.

To be fair, we do need another exit from Juniper and the builder is the one footing the bill for the project ( juniper West ) not the city .

Barnhart-vale has 4 exits out of the area.

I would love to see a well lit train between Juniper and Barnhart vale ( for the record )

More units added to rental housing proposal for former North Shore car dealership site

Odd, being they've begun digging I believe already.

Condos on Mt Paul Way? I’ll never understand the obsession with condos outside urban areas, essentially in the middle of nowhere. A service and amenity dead zone that now has no direct connection to downtown.

That's actually a pretty good price. It includes this parking lot on the other side as well. Says preliminary plans are complete for a residential building on the parking lot and the building is 94% leased. I say we pool our money and buy it!

I think I've asked in the past, but does anyone here have any insight into The Hive project downtown? Their first phase is fully leased/sold as far as I've heard so I'm hoping they're moving forward with the next building soon.

That area has a ton of potential to be a nice office/commercial building cluster.

Happy New Year!

I've been wondering the same thing about the Hive and can't help you with that. Very surprised they've done nothing with how successful the first phase was.

I think they are having issues with commitment and long term tenants. Id love to see it go ahead, but I wouldn't count on it for at least 3 years if at all.

There were talks to turn the 2nd phase to apartments instead of office space. Would love to see more rental specific condos built downtown instead of market units. Hopefully they pivot to that at the Hive and get something built.

It used to have a massive atrium on the ground floor before it was divided into two commercial spaces. The whole building is a wonderful blend of Brutalism but I cannot comprehend how cheap it is. How can such a large office tower be so inexpensive?

TOP 3 Highest permit year in 2025

The Kamloops building sector had its third-busiest year on record in 2025, surpassing the previous year’s construction revenue by a splinter.

According to year-end numbers published by the City of Kamloops Building Inspection Division, builders took out $349,857,124 over 1,066 permits in 2025. Last year’s construction revenue is $18,472 higher than what was recorded in 2024.

Only 2022 ($415.4 million) and 2020 ($395.1 million) saw the city issue a greater value in permits.

In 2025, nearly two thirds of construction revenue came from the residential sector while just under $100 million came from the commercial side.

Kamloops also surpassed the previous year’s new housing unit total. Permits for 733 residential units were approved in 2025, up from 702 units in 2024.

However, the year didn’t end with New Year’s fireworks for the Kamloops building sector. Only $6.9 million in construction revenue was recorded over 64 permits in December. However, it’s up from $4.4 million over 58 permits during the same month in 2024.
