Ogden is boldly taking a massive, step backwards:

Ogden could block most new apartments in some commercial zones
Quote:
OGDEN — Ogden City officials have unveiled an ordinance that would block most new apartment buildings in some commercial zones that have been popular with developers in recent years. City officials say they want to promote for-sale housing options instead.

Ogden Mayor Ben Nadolski and his administration announced Tuesday they will propose an ordinance that, if passed, would limit new apartments from being built in specific areas of the city.

“Our goal is to provide diverse and balanced housing options across housing types, locations, and affordability levels,” Nadolski said in a news release Tuesday. “And the data shows that our citizens need and want to buy single-family homes, especially first-time home buyers.”

Very inefficient use of remaining space. Extremely ignorant decision.

Weber County Building Redevelopment

I don't know how serious the county and city are about really doing this but it is interesting none the less

AE Urbia was invited to an RFP by Weber County to propose the redevelopment of their existing building and parking structure in the heart of Downtown Ogden. The project consisted of a large parking structure, accompanied by a mixed-use residential project for phase one.

Phase two consisted of a 10-story hotel/office building that fronted Washington Blvd. This proposed project sparked Weber County to rethink its location and allow more dense development for Downtown Ogden.

Here are a few pictures of the new building at Lagoon replacing the old burned down candy shop building. I like the look, I think it will add to the nice 'Main Street" feel there
