looks nice...i quite like it....difficult site......i like how the cars look like they are romantically watching over the river.

[WinCitySparky]

A statement on our car centric society really

Very handsome building, I'd live in that. And hooray for the absence of cheap-looking cladding. (I'm looking at you Zu, Pemby, and large white appliance at Confusion Corner)

[bomberjet]

You sure about that? Looks like styrofoam. And gabion walls for the lower part by the river.

Well maybe... I don't know. Looks a lot nicer though.

[bomberjet]

It does look nice, you're right.

Interesting. Thanks for that. I know nothing about building materials but I find the look of these more appealing than a some other buildings of late. I especially love the look of the scribed inset panels. Just the right amount of visual interest. Classy.

[The Jabroni]

Can we at least colour match with the vibe around the area with its neighbouring buildings?

Other than the colour, it looks great.

EIFS = stucco panels, basically. don't get your hopes up too much for what it looks like in person

[neutroniks]

Winnipeg's obsession with stucco needs to be studied.

[bomberjet]

Its cheap.

[trueviking]

EIFS is definitely best in white. Any colour fades quickly and stains easily. Go look at the curved day care at the U of W beside the College for the Environment to see what happens if you add colour.

It’s popular because it’s cheap. Same cost as Hardie lap siding though, which I much prefer as a basic cladding.

This project will indeed be special to me. It's where I lived once. There were 2 apartments in fact. I lived in the one that was beside Mayfair Place. The apartments were at least 3 stories tall and had a courtyard. I lived there until grade 2. I was perhaps 6 or 7 years old at the time.

About how long ago were they demolished?
