Aside from the artists presenting, likely very very few would have a clue?

Surprised it's still running - I swear I remember thinking it launched 20 years ago, but it's older than that!

If it could be anything like the PNE stage in Vancouver that should be awesome for summer concerts! Will feel a lot better than the stages at Klondike days for their concert series tho seeing Twisted Sister from plastic folding chairs on flat ground by the 118 ave overpass stage is always a classic.

Nice to see day #1 of lunchbox shorts SOLD OUT.

Four solid shorts and a delicious lunch from the Italian Centre.

*Only gripe is that ECC's only down escalator servicing the theatre is blocked off forcing everyone to wait for the slow elevators. Maintenance happens, but it made EIFF feel a little less of an event/priority for the facility. Come on now.

Be prepared for a lot of maintenance being deferred if the property is being managed on behalf of a receiver. Their goal is not to spend any money, and string out the receivership as long as possible. It's like the biggest non-secret in the business.

Chili cook-off tonight at ICE House.

Miss our ones in Scotia Place and Churchill, but this will do.

1. They attribute some of the decline to the current condition of downtown. It really affects everything, and it's been ongoing for a while, and there really seems to be no tangible plan to address it. So that's really not surprising.

2. I find the AGA to be small and underwhelming. Would love to see the current/pre-expansion law courts building become part of the AGA. would be super cool.

Current state of downtown and AGA aside, I am of the mind that cultural offerings like the AGA or RAM should be free. Curious how much admission brings in vs their operational costs. London is fantastic for this and have similarly experienced this in a few other cities. Let everyone enjoy, I am sure you can recoup costs with a good gift shop when you're letting in way more people. I would certainly be inclined to visit both establishments with out of town guests if it was free. It lends itself naturally to hitting up both places given how close they are to one another. I remember doing the math for taking us to the RAM was over $100 plus parking/ETS. Imagine wanting to do both, you'd be over $200 plus parking/ETS. I am sure they would easily dropped that coin in the gift shop, then done a restaurant or something downtown. Instead we do neither and go to WEM.

Nightlife news: Union Hall is closing and holding their last show January 2nd. It had a good run, 20-some years. RIP

It's being replaced by The Pawn Shop, which closed 10 years ago.

The Druid, which also closed 10 years ago, is reopening in the Mercer sometime this week.

So basically Union Hall is getting a new name, likely new managment and maybe some renovations?
