I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the city is planning to build a new fire hall somewhere in that area. I thought it was directly south of the Timmies.

I believe the correct address for that is 2502. The bigger building closer to the road is an accountant office. Unaware of what the smaller one by the car wash is. Sorry to disappoint, I'm sure that's not what many were hoping for.

It appears that they did buy land for it on that same parcel. I doubt there's room for it south of the current construction, so maybe west of Tim's? it's for Fire Hall 11 according to the city records.

The small domed building at the west end of 12th street, just behind Nutana Collegiate, has been removed and is now sitting on a trailer parked at the end of the street. Perhaps in preparation for the new development on that site?

Thanks for finding that! It doesn't look like a great location for a fire station right next to the Tim's and the exit to Circle. Hopefully, they decided to buy the plot east of Shell which sold... better location for a station.

Guess we'll see!

Now that's a tease! Saskatoon's a hot market, tho. Strike while the iron's hot. Obviously the views, the riverbank and Broadway/DT/20th in walking distance make this an ideal development.

I've been told that structure was from the bell tower of an old school in a nearby town. Aberdeen or something.

So those who've posted on other movements, especially on the Eastside, do you have any updates? Examples include lots of dirt at the 509 12th St 7 story office bldg, North Prairie looking at a spring 12fl condo start at Uni Bridge (new signage, fencing or anything?), The 6fl mostly wooden apt on College Dr. -( Oh, I found something!), The 9fl student housing replacement, same st. (any render?), The Cancer Lodge replacement (render?) and then there's the Wright 16fl? development on Broadway, going strong. We could have 4 or 5 cranes on the Eastside next year.

Image from Terry Hoknes on Facebook. 6fl apt, College Dr.

No image. Maybe you can't post from Facebook? Oh well. I saw it.

Thanks Echoes. I shall waddle back to the sofa to hibernate.

A friend of mine who works for the City mentioned that North Prairie is planning to start construction on the Clarence/College condos next spring in conjunction with the College Dr. Link (BRT) construction. Exciting times!

Exciting times, indeed! This development will be a beauty sitting at the east end of the University Bridge; a wonderful bookend to the downtown core on the opposite end.

There are more realtors working in Saskatoon than homes available on the market

By Keenan Sorokan
CTV News
December 09, 2025

Saskatchewan’s low housing inventory continues to challenge the real estate industry, and the head of the province’s realtors association fears it’s the new normal.

“Our inventory levels are not where they should be. And unfortunately, I think it’s normalized through the years, because we’ve been here for so long,” Saskatchewan Realtors Association CEO Chris Guérette said.

“After a period of five years, people sort of assume that that’s how the market in Saskatchewan is — but it’s not. That’s not a normal market.”

Units need to be pre-sold to acquire construction financing.

Angry

I still remember the press release from 2020 - had more detail than this crappy one. Terrible reporting. It’s a shame that they aren’t striving for more than an Autograph brand when Sask needs a higher quality hotel brand like Fairmont. What does the Bess honestly have missing that the Fairmont downtown Winnipeg has honestly !!

I just hope they finally wake up and hire security at night to fend off the riff-raff that tends to walk in from the street up to the second floor during banquets and help themselves to bottles of booze from the unattended bar.

It's so great to see them build a school to support the core. I'm impressed. Thanks for the effort to get the pics! This is the exact development that helps build density. If you're a family who's looking to live in a neighbourhood, but there are no schools within your home choice area, you tend to look elsewhere. The homes here are cheaper than the burbs. New families move in, more density, better community and it all builds up. Maybe the old transit lines and streetcars will come back some day. Saskatoon has punched itself in the heart so much since the days of Dayday, but it looks like we're slowly being resuscitated.

This school is going to replace three that are being closed down. So I don't necessarily disagree with your take, but it could eventually come back to limit our opportunities to densify, when there are fewer schools in the core neighbourhoods, with only a few large schools instead of smaller schools that could be expanded/built up to handle new density.

And yes, we've spent decades dealing Dayday and his Council's choses to not maintain infrastructure in order to achieve artificially low tax increases. Charlie Clark and his Council paved more roads, built more sidewalks, replaced more lead pipes and water/sewer mains than anyone did in decades because it was very overdue work. I hope at some point they get credit for the important work of maintaining our assets.

Oh, I didn't know that. So it won't actually be more convenient for a lot of already local students. Boo! Which 3 schools are being trashed? Princess Alexandria....
