Interesting the cover page of the agenda still has Dawn Arnold listed as mayor.

Really shows the city has their 🞵🞵🞵🞵 together.

After elections in 2026, there will be a new mayor. Theriault, the deputy mayor is in "acting capacity" until then.

"Paul Harpelle, spokesperson for Elections N.B., said Moncton will have to wait until May 11, 2026, to fill Arnold's vacancy."

I'm interested in seeing what this "objection" is. I imagine it is something trivial, such as the location of an entrance to the underground parking garage (like with the Infinity Tower).

It would be hilarious though if a disgruntled neighbour were disappointed over the truncated tower and pedestrian architectural style of the revised plans.

- "I object!!!"

- "you object to what?"

- "I am profoundly offended by the plebeian design parameters in this revised proposal. It's outrageous!!!"

- "You may be offended, but that is no reason to deny this request by the proponent. "

- "Sez you!!!"

Ok so they somewhat have their 🞵🞵🞵🞵 together. My apologies.

City coucil decided to ignore both objectors and approved the new six storey design unanimously.

Actually, that was brought up during the meeting. There was a representative from Amico Construction present, and he said it is the intention of the developer to break ground in April.

Still likely to break ground in April?

If the 12 storey 99 King development in SJ qualified for low interest government financing to help get the project towards the finish line, than this project should have definitely received some financing support from the government to get it above ten storeys at least.

I really hope New Brunswick can continue to see more high rise projects built, despite the expected downturn in population growth. I think our cities can still attract a lot of internal migrants from elsewhere in Canada, but the supply of housing needs to continue to grow to keep housing affordability a key pull factor for people moving to NB.

I found this link with the elevation drawings from there recent proposal. I quite like the fancy windows and doors on the podium.: https://www5.moncton.ca/docs/media/2025/2025_11_26_PAC.pdf

I drove by the other day and there were still cars parked on the vacant lot. I would say not. I would bank on May or possibly June,

I have to say this year has been the biggest year Moncton has ever seen for downtown growth...

-45 Lewis St - 5 floors
-20 Cameron St - 5 floors
-St Bernard Square - 6 floors
-Gateway Towers - 2x 18 floors
-Crown Plaza Renos

Plus Infinity speculated to start soon...

Has this been reduced to 6 floors? Just looking at the renders.

Unfortunately yes.

A generic Spitfire design now as well, but with a fairly nice retail podium and apparently a confirmed tenant for the podium (restaurant).

Much better than a vacant dirt parking lot anyway, and, combined with St. Bernard Church, and with St. Bernard's Rectory (now undergoing rehabilitation in preparation for conversion to a boutique hotel), this will mean a complete rejuvenation for this city block.
