Could it be a moving and storage facility? Bekins comes to mind but the style doesn't seem to match. A competitor maybe?

Hmmm. . . I'm not sure I remember (or even knew about) Wurdeman & Becket's 'Post-War House'

Lets take a closer look.

It's really interesting. . . especially if you like post mid-centry architecture. I though I'd look up some additional phots and happened upon some LIFE photographs of it.









My house built in 1956 has the exact same stonework. (I believe it's Indiana Limestone) The pattern is also the same.

The panorama stitching feature in Photoshop is made to stitch together a series of individual photographs you take to create a panorama. One day I thought “If it can stitch together multiple photos, it can probably stitch together images from a panning shot in a movie” - and it can!

It's 10203 Santa Monica Boulevard, and it's still there. The image below is looking at the Club View Drive side. The property websites give a build date of 1964. It appears to just be an office building. In the 1987 CD the primary tenant was the Samuel Goldwyn Co.

I was going to guess the building was an old recording studio.


Did you happen to notice the impressive back of the building? ..The large windows (and balcony) at the top are no doubt the 'big-wig's offices facing the hills.

I found a 2015 article at westsidetoday.com which ties these two posts from yesterday together:

The office building is privately owned and 98 percent leased, mostly to entertainment industry companies. Designed by Frank Gehry and initially constructed for Samuel Goldwyn, the structure was completed in 1964 and renovated in 2002.

It looks like the house that acted as the service station is still there, but with the overhang removed and an addition about half as large added to the front instead. There is a patch of dry grass in the front yard that is suspiciously pump island-shaped.
