Seems like it's been vacant since September.

I was on west 4th today and noticed a fairly big screen on a business, a mushroom dispensary I guess. How long has it been there and is it allowed?

Technically mushroom dispensaries aren’t allowed either? But it’s better to only break one law at a time… 😆 🍄🟫

I'm not sure if the retail thread, or Arts and Culture & Entertainment, is the right thread, but thanks to the Trump tariff threats and their effect on tourism, the Rubber Duck Museum will be moving from Point Roberts to Tsawwassen Mills mall next month. [CBC]

Of the 225k Nordstrom Vacated Aritzia is taking ~40k, so room for 2 Park Royal sized Simons Stores easily.

Aritzia is not adding a mezz floor, the 4th floor is at mall level.

I assume the rules are different for video screens inside the building? I noticed Roots had two digital screens facing out on Robson and there doesn't seem to be a sign permit associated with it.

They can take Aritzia's old space

EDIT: I wonder if they'll even bother with merchandise on the main floor or just set it up as an escalator connection?

If they close off the door to the street (for Boss at Aritzia's old unit)

The main floor of the new Aritzia should be pretty big.

Maybe the escalator on the left goes down, not up, and the double one to the right goes up?
...or this could be completely changed up.

PS - Yeah you can see the proximity of the columns to the ramp.
Could be an issue since a lot of people will not enter Artizia since it's not really a mall entrance,
although it could become a defacto mall entrance to the mall below which the store may not like (?).
There could be 2 columns at the Aritzia main arch, allowing passage behind.
Last arch to the ground is probably for an emergency exit since they are building out to the columns.

Just noticed you can see the office levels so the glass arches will extend past where the balcony is on level 4 (?) close to that light pole on the parkade wall.

The far right arch also seems to have the digital sign extend into that section. And that arch extends all the way to the ground unlike the other ones which have raised walls under the glass.

T&T closed their Ora location in Richmond. Supposedly they might end up with a location at CF Richmond Centre but not sure if that's just wishful thinking.

And there's zero work being done at Gilmore Place.

people online are saying T&T have been waiting 10 months for permits in Burnaby.

Maybe they want to finish their USA stores first? I think they are opening 4 stores in California.

I was at Richmond Centre on Sunday, even on a non-black friday type weekend the Muji Store and the Uniqlo store are always busy and awkward to get around, that particulat Uniqlo feels really cramped and has such small aisle, It would be nice if they moved to some of the much larger looking spaces in the new outside extension or is the plan for it to be just for food places?

PopMart was opened last week and they have a lineup to get in. I also went to Lansdowne Mall and it was really busy; the T&T was packed and busy. There is a store space that looks like a Toy Store but it's actually a place where you pay $25.95 for one child and one adult to play with the toys for a time limit like an hour or two. Interesting concept.

Former HBC downtown listed for sale.

Former Hudson's Bay building in downtown Vancouver listed for sale
Kenneth Chan
Dec 3 2025, 2:12 pm

One of the most historically significant and largest retail properties formerly owned by the now-dismantled Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) has been listed for sale.

A joint partnership between commercial real estate firms CBRE Limited and Marcus & Millichap has been appointed to market and oversee the sale of the former Hudson’s Bay flagship department store building, located at 674 Granville St. in downtown Vancouver.

In an announcement today, it is stated that the property is now being listed on behalf of FTI Consulting Canada, which is acting as the court-appointed receiver....

On a more holistic level, with Nordstrom's closed, The Bay closed and ready to sell out for some different kind of redevelopment, what does downtown Vancouver have for department stores?
Some people here have seen the awesome "department store strip" (my term) along Oxford Street in London, not to mention Harrod's.
Sure London is a megacity, but surely Vancouver merits better shopping anyway.

Shopping's done online for the most part. The era of the large department store is fading fast. I'd be surprised if we saw another large-format department store (three to four levels) open up in Vancouver ever again. Outside of regular retail for more niche things, I do all of my shopping online.

A department store can't compete with free, same-day delivery. Plus, I don't have to drive through traffic and find a place to park downtown.
