This slide from the 1960s just turned up on eBay. . and it's a mystery location!

"Original Slide 1960's Los Angeles ? street scene cars"

I checked various city directories for MorDisco Drug but nothing turned up. . and the only Lux Art I found was a moving van company up in Tujunga.

As you can see the street lights match Los Angeles streetlights.

It only has two bedrooms and (according to the LAT article) "The second bedroom can only be accessed through the primary bedroom". We may need somewhere bigger!

Just found on eBay.

Here's a rare photograph of a pop-up tuberculosis sanitarium in Glendale CA. taken on Aug. 8th 1912.

Let's take a closer look at some of the different signs. (and people)

I can't quite make out what's written on the sign besides 'NO'.

And I can't read these two signs at all - but I see the tents are numbered 5 and 3.

What's written on the reverse.

I wonder if the camp was set up in one of the city parks or on the outskirts of town. I don't think we'll ever know.....(a subtle hint to FIND OUT)

I've only known one person who had to go away to a tuberculosis sanitarium. It was an older lady in my hometown who wrote a corner column in our weekly newpaper.
She lived alone a few houses north of my own. From what I was told she was sent to a sanitarium in Indianapolis. She obviously survived or I wouldn't have known her.

I tried with the other one, but the only words I can make out on tent #3 are the first line ending with Peoples, and the second line ending with Tent.

The tents -- including one for the Glendale Sanitarium -- were for a conference of Seventh Day Adventists:

August 3, 1912, Los Angeles Times @ Newspapers.com

The main entrance to the 10-acre tent city was on Orange Street between 4th and 5th:

So let's see . . . Orange Street . . . 4th Street is now Broadway . . . 5th Street is now Harvard . . . they were at the Galleria!

Part of his deal to do the part was that he wouldn't have to shave off his moustace, you can see it in the first picture of him it's just under the white makeup

I like this faded snapshop of the Pacific Design Center (currently on eBay) because it's from the 1980s when I used to hang out at the Bodhi Tree Bookstore.

I didn't think Hamm's Beer was distributed on the west coast.

I thought the theater was showing The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit but if you look closely it says The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit....Was that a real movie!?

Here's a little bit closer look.

I absolutely LOVED the Hamm's commercials when I was a little boy. I can still hear the drumbeat in my head.

It's a great noirish shot looking north from (near) Sunset toward the intersection of Hollywood & Vine.

That poor Palm tree is looking a little worse for wear.

I was going to include the link but now I can't find it. - maybe it sold.
