Well, you see there, 1 Vanderbilt was once a 1,300 ft building. Both Central Park Tower and Steinway were both lower than their current heights at one time. (And even with it's spire, CPT had a lower roof height). 270 Park was coming in at about 1,250 ft (obviously higher now). Even 350 Park was coming in at 1,350 ft. 520 5th wasn't always a supertall building. That's why no one cares what's being written on other blogs. I'm here to tell you that Rechler says they have the financing lined up, and with the kinds of loans they are getting, there's no need to value engineer anything, even though costs for skyscraper construction have risen significantly everywhere.
The bottom line is that the nervous nellies won't rain on this parade until there is a storm. Don't bother telling me it's cloudy. I'll feel the rain when it happens, (if it happens).
