I believe ProphetM and Flyingwedge, are correct. It belonged to the 'Security Title Company / Lawyers Title Guaranty Company.

I'd be remissed if I didn't mention Scott-Charles mock-up of the entrance...I LOVED it, SC

The only thing wrong (that I can see) is the choice of Ionic over Corinthian for the capitol of the columns.

Tonight I have a mystery location of . .um . .a different color.

#2....What in the sam hell is Camel Juice!?!?

Side note:

The only belly dance place I visited while I lived in L.A.was Moun de Tunis- which I've mentioned several times on NLA as 'one of the most fun nights of my life'.

My friends and I drank copious amounts of Ouzo and, if I remember correcty, we danced with the performers. ... (hmm, I wonder if that's why the police were called)

Seventh Veil is on Sunset Blvd... I've never frequented the place, but it's kind of burned into my brain... I used to drive past it all the time on my way to “guitar row”.

Sometimes I like to cast the net widely about a location or street we have had some reason to visit on NLA. I find stray events and information interesting and sometimes amusing, and at the least they give us the flavor of the area and the times. And so it is that we're on North Broadway in the 1890s and a little bit more.

The 100 block of North Broadway was considered by the Turnverein:

LA Times, 3/6/1893

This seems to have spurred the Times to look into the value of North Broadway, as opposed to South Broadway:

Yes, he was quite a piece of work:

Our man too quick with his fists, Alex Covarrubias, the son of Marshal Nicolas Antonio C., was thus the grandson of Jose Maria Covarrubias.

Located on the southeast corner of Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street, the one story pharmacy was adjacent to Columbia Pictures and across the street from CBS' Columbia Square radio and television facility.

The car appears to not be a land yacht, but rather a Studebaker Land Cruiser, 1949ish.

Spotted a couple of nice images of Tick Tock Toluca, the Burbank area cousin of the famous Tick Tock Tea Room restaurant on Cahuenga in Hollywood. It was a very handsome 1946 Late Moderne building at 10121 Riverside Drive, demolished around 1999 for a Koo Koo Roo.

One of those photos (1973) shows a lot of damage to the newsstand's awnings.
