468 Main will have a super nice thrift shop called Retro fete upstairs. They did a great job designing the interior. Lots of mid-century design. Very Instagram-able. I feel it will be a hit!

Please no. Winnipeg deserves so much better than Mitzi's. Between thee factory cut, frozen fries and the completely unmemorable tenders the only thing the place had going for it was nostalgia some had. The US chain Rasing Canes is a significantly better experience than Mitzi's and being honest Popeyes even has better food, including tenders.

That isn't to say that a proper made from scratch and fresh cut fries place could not absolutely crush those chains but Mitizi's was at best about the same as KFC from last night that you reheated in a microwave.

Agree to disagree. Maybe our palates are different like the way people taste cilantro differently lol.

Althought I'll definitely agree about the fries; I never ordered the fries because they were store bought and horrendous, and the fingers definitely didn't travel well if you ordered them for take out. I always had them fresh, and they were great, but alas, to each their own lol.

I actually had Raising Canes on my last trip to the US, and made the horrible mistake of ordering them for take out. By the time we got back to our airbnb, they tasted & felt like cardboard. Even after heating them up. Same could have happened for multiple people with Mitzis. Especially because in their last few weeks, they only did take out, no dine-in.

Canes only redeeming factor is their sauce. Notoriously they underseason their tenders on the pretense that they’re supposed to be eaten with the sauce. It’s a bad excuse for bland tenders. Popeyes as a side note is a superior chicken chain.

We got Raising Canes on a family trip in the states last summer (kids demanded it). It was very underwhelming IMO.

Some good local chicken fingers to lookout for are from Prairie Chef - available at grocery stores in the frozen section. Made on Jarvis Avenue. Best pre-made ones you will find.

You should try the chicken fingers from Hoffmann’s Fine Foods. Made in Winnipeg, these are probably the best chicken fingers I’ve ever had.
