Construction in Kamloops is going to come to a complete stop if this comes to fruition. This country is falling apart at an accelerated pace with this BS in BC, and clown Carney bankrupting us.

That's actually insane! It's so over the top that you can't even take it serious. Come on.. All of Kamloops and Sun Peaks! This is just a court battle that lawyers and consultants are exploiting to cash in. Natives need to realize this. They're getting taken advantage by these groups.

But yes I agree, the more this card gets played by these native bands the less economically viable this province/country is. I would love to see more band members speaking out against this. All this is doing is padding consultants and lawyers pockets. It does nothing for band members.

Makes a lot of sense why the Tranquille development has sat stagnant for the past 5 plus years.

2nd tower at City Gardens was pouring the final sloped roof structure. Just mechanical to go.

Noticed that the Pulse on 8th street has started up. Another Tranquille Rd (even though this is on 8th st) project with shovels in the ground. It's pretty cool how many sites are currently under construction on 1 street. I think this makes 7, 6 if Thompson Landing is considered finished.

After the Métis housing lot being idle for many years, I’m suprised to actually see anything be done on this site. I also didn’t anticipate the pulse project to start working this year.

Did anyone else notice the supportive housing get put in? I think I noticed it about a month ago..

Yeah the supportive housing project went up REALLY fast. I think it was like 4 months ago it started. Great picture.

Looks like there is a large development planned for 450 Columbia. 5 buildings in total. 6 story hotel first and 11 story development in phase two. Does anybody have more information about this?

The 500 Columbia street is new to me, haven't heard of that yet. I don't know if they will run into issues with views, but it would be a great location for something of that height.

Looks like work on the Valleyview Freshco has stalled. I've not seen anything new in weeks.

Likewise, rumor has it that Fabricland was told they were not getting their lease renewed, so Freshco may of put an aggressive offer on their space and the landlord bent over. I still do not see what the hell kind of a business plan they have to setup barely 200 feet away from a Save on Foods.

MPIS :

I think Fresco will drive Save-on foods into a place where they may have to lower their prices. Right now they are far more money then Super store or Walmart, yet operate 5 stores ( I think ) in Kamloops .

Awesome! Can't believe the day has come. This has been at least 10 years in the making. Very excited to see what it does for that part of downtown and the city centre. I remember Ron Fawcett, the owner of Kelson Group said when they were advocating for the building, that he was in discussion with a boutique hotel chain that would build across from the PAC if it went ahead. Will be interesting to see what the spin offs of this will be.

Here's a reminder of what is breaking ground!

Awesome! Kelowna needs one badly. Our venue(s) or lack thereof are so outdated.

I noticed a big hole while driving up 1st st. Apparently row houses are set to be built there.

The city gardens towers look amazing and can be seen in many areas throughout the city. a show suite is being built in unit 608. It will be interesting to see what the actual interior will look like besides from their mock show suite a few streets down.

Its great news to see the Performing arts center break ground this week,
Deep excavations will start in the spring, with foundations installed by the end of 2026, with a budget for the performing arts center sitting at $211 million.

So our embarrassing mayor has requested we delay the project and start over, looking at moving it to River Street by the Yacht club. You know, where there is already issues with parking and narrow streets that would never accommodate the traffic of such a venue. Imagine trying to leave the venue if it were built there... coming up under the tracks to t a street light, or getting stuck behind a train on Lorne street or waiting for traffic on the free way. He doesn't put any thought into things before making these claims it appears.

I saw that. That’s so stupid. There is nothing around there, no restaurants, no hotels, no after-show bars. It’s smack dab in the centre of downtown where it needs to be, to bring in foot traffic and patronage to the nearby establishments. River st. would kill a lot of economic gains for the area because people would skip out on a before concert dinner and post concert drinks. I’ve always said that they need to revitalize that area, put some riverside restaurants in, a hotel or two, but without any of that the PAC will be out of place.

It's a good thing no one listens to the mayor. I'm not against the guy but on all these projects he's painfully stupid. He thinks they're all up for a redesign and doesn't have a clue when it comes to urban development or design.

Like Repthe said, you don't drop millions on a building and put it in a dead zone. The location its going is perfect and where it should go.

He's doing the same thing with the new RCMP detachment. He wants that on river street too. He has no clue. The infrastructure needed for these buildings isn't cheap and River street doesn't have it. I swear you could tell him 100 times and he still won't get it.
