There is a render on here somewhere of a tower that incorporates the Credit Foncier Façade. Edit - see below. That is never happening in that form. It may have been related to the Burns Haley Building demo.

I don't think Tower 4 is likely in the medium term. Maybe a new Central Library?

I forgot to mention that I saw a bunch of large white sacks in the old Taylor Field practice field. Likely bentonite clay to make drilling mud for the aquatic facility geothermal well drilling. Other than that no other sign of work yet. Saw a Canadian C17 cargo plane taking off from the airport yesterday too.

I received a report on 11th Ave rush hour traffic, and not surprisingly it is a disaster. This relates to eastbound traffic. Apparently the elimination of turning lanes seems to be the big issue. I just don't get it. Urban planners are taught to encourage a vibrant downtown, but at the same time they are taught to hate cars. Making traffic and street parking worse will not help downtown Regina, no matter how much nicer it is for pedestrians.

Skyview Village project paving is finishing just under the wire. Not sure what shape those parking lot lines will be in by the end of construction. Starting to do the footings for the large building, look to be stockpiling wall panels for it..

Neville Drive 6 story project using a lot of prefabricated wall panels. Gordon Road condos starting to get framed.

Stumbled across another early photo of the new reservoirs out east on the project page. https://www.regina.ca/transportation-roads-parking/.galleries/Facts/2024-06-25-Photo-06.jpeg Supposed to be 100KW of solar out there, not sure if it is going on the ground or on top of the reservoirs.

Umm... Tower 1 has a huge OEB Restaurant and a Jugo Juice;
Tower 2 has a Mikel coffee shop and a Famoso (being relet);
Tower 3 has Rosemary and Rye and and a Bank.

And all 3 have ZERO street presence. They may as well not even exist with how empty the streets are out front (outside of lunch hour on a work day)

In response to a demolition request for the Crédit Foncier Building at 2184 12th Ave, Heritage Regina will be speaking to the City of Regina Planning Commission this afternoon about the site and their commitment to the Victoria Park Conservation District Policy. Notable in this week's building permit report is $6 million in permits for the new Co-op Gas Bar on Parliament in HL. Add another $1 million+ for the land. Is that was a Gas Bar costs these days? I guess Co-ops are pretty deluxe with huge C-Stores, carwashes, charging stations, etc.

Decent temperature when I started today but it quickly dropped to 3, definitely time to start wearing my heated gloves. I stopped by the demolition on Albert and the last section was still up. Looking at the photos they may have been knocking it down. Since it was still up I thought they might have been working on the basement from the previous section.

Hauling away top soil from Glen Elm. Candy Cane Park work just about done. Pouring a sidewalk they had removed. The lake drain is plugged since the pipe isn't connected to anything yet. Connecting the pipe under Wascana Creek to the two new vaults in AE Wilson Park. Work being done on the wood rail bridge near Dojack.

So Mr Bresciani sold his land at 535 Douglas Ave and his project pictured below now will not proceed. West Oak and it partners plan a multifamily infill - no details.

Below I said RPC was recommending approval of the demo of the Credit Foncier Bldg. In fact they voted 9-1 against it. It was actually the City Administration that was recommending it.

I was at Bushwhackers last Fri and it looked completely ready to open. They were working on the sidewalks and off the road surface, but there did not appear to be anything preventing opening it to traffic. I swear "they" love close streets just because they can.

My first guess was right yesterday about the 11th & Albert demolition, they were working on the foundation. Last section was still up and they were pulling concrete out of the basement. Tough lighting conditions with a low sun and dark shadows. Overcast makes everything look bland but at least it eliminates the shadows.

I wonder if they are planning on doing some major landscaping in the old CP yard area. The pile of dirt in there is massive. Maybe they stockpiled it there knowing they'd need it eventually.

Hamilton and Cornwall have light bases, the other intersections except McIntyre have a solid median / no left turns. After taking a video yesterday I took photos of every intersection on the way back. https://flic.kr/p/2rFDuHz https://flic.kr/p/2rFDcB4

I guess OpenStreetMap needs to be updated to make that a boulevard now. That sort of edit is complicated by the bus route relations which need to be moved onto road segments going in the correct direction.

Pleased to see the bike lane on the S. side. Early renders had it on the North side integral to the wider sidewalk and trees. That was much less safe, particularly for pedestrians.
