Today in the CBC the ATU pres said they had lost 18 drivers just last month (IIRC?). The fleet itself is very old, many of our buses are secondhand from Ottawa and other municipalities, they're all different models which makes maintenance harder, and Transit is direly short on maintenance space.

The second hand buses from Calgary and Ottawa are long retired. All buses on the fleet are New Flyer with variations of the same engine. The older buses on the fleet don't have the problematic emissions control systems of the newer buses. The oldest buses on the fleet are 30' low floor buses, for which they haven't found a suitable replacement.

Any updates on the Cambridge Hotel? The project was announced at least 5 years ago and all they’ve manage to do was demo the old building.

I'm so sick of the monochromatic designs. It's way too conservative, and even the wood panelling is not doing this any justice.

Public hearing regarding the proposal to rezone and subdivide the land

December 18, 2025 – Council meeting

If the development application moves forward through the approvals process, Council will vote on the rezoning and subdivision of the land

Summer 2026 – Public lane construction*

Construction of the public lane will be scheduled during the summer months to have minimal impact on school access and operations.

Summer / Fall 2026 – The design of the residential mixed-income development will be finalized and subject to approval by the City Centre Community Committee*

2027-2028 – Construction of the multi-family housing development*

There were a few workers and a bobcat on the site today. Didn't have time to pay attention to exactly what they were doing though.

That's interesting. I thought this site was slated to be a fire station once again, after it was previously a police station, which before that, was a fire station.

The idea was a part of a proposal put in place in the WFPS 2020 Master Plan as part of the consolidation plan to move Station 13 on Lilac St. to around or near this site.
