Yeah, most of us do not consider that to be Skid Row.

Google Maps defines Skid Row as the area within Main, 3rd, Alameda, and 7th. I have no idea if there's an official defined area for Skid Row, though. It's certainly not Skid Row in the sense of being in the midst of tent cities. You could just as easily say it's part of the Arts District.

That's what I consider it, part of the Arts District.

Alameda is a good boundary line for the Arts District. That said there are known to be plenty of homeless encampments up and down Alameda and on intersecting side streets. But this project is definitely Skid Row adjacent, so not gonna fault the LA Times (i.e Roger Vincent) too much.

Continuing Interest and Active Negotiations: At the August 19, 2025 status conference, Debtor’s counsel reported continuing interest and substantial progress in selling the Property. Since that time, Debtor and its professionals have continued to maintain intensive engagement with multiple interested parties, with particularly focused negotiations ongoing with at least one serious interested party. Indeed, the Debtor is in the process of extending the term of its engagement of one of its retainer brokers (Colliers) to facilitate on-going interest and negotiations from a significant interested party.

Imminent Formal Offer: Debtor advised the Court in August 2025 that a formal offer to purchase the Property was expected within weeks. The Debtor has not yet received that offer, but continues to be in contact with that buyer and expects it will be forthcoming. While Debtor remains unable to disclose specific terms at this time due to the sensitive nature of ongoing negotiations and confidentiality requirements, the level of engagement and specificity of discussions continues to indicate genuine and serious interest from qualified parties.
It's a never ending story of SoonTM with Oceanwide but hey I'll stay crazy and keep paying attention. In the same release they kept asserting they will have "something" to share at the "status conference" hearing scheduled for 10/21 (tomorrow) and this one seems to finally not have been punted to the right... I'll set my expectations for another "yea any day now" and we'll see what we get

Banc of California will raise its profile in downtown Los Angeles by putting its name on top of a skyscraper and nearly doubling the size of its offices.

Banc of California has leased 40,000 square feet at 865 S. Figueroa St. and secured the rights to emblazon its name atop the 35-story tower just north of L.A. Live, the bank recently announced. The bank used to be based in Santa Ana and is now headquartered in Brentwood. Its downtown offices are currently nearby in the Figueroa at Wilshire building, where the bank rents nearly 23,000 square feet, according to real estate data provider CoStar.

Prominent signs on its office buildings are important to the bank, a representative said, in part because the downtown tower will be visible during the 2028 Olympics and perhaps be part of skyline backdrops during coverage of the event.

About a third of the office space in downtown’s financial district is vacant, according to real estate brokerage CBRE, about the same as it was a year ago. Many institutional investors, such as pension funds and insurance companies, have often been reluctant in recent years to make big bets on L.A. because the rapidly changing rules make it impossible to predict profits.

Banc of California must be backfilling space previously occupied by TCW. Any office leasing activity in DTLA is good leasing activity.

Fantastic night view of DTLA skyline with Century City in the foreground, around 8/2025.

That's fantastic, do you have a larger size? I'd like to make that my wallpaper.

Looks like it was taken near the southern end of the Sepulveda Pass.

Maybe the 3rd time is the charm? The description of the design sounds interesting. Curious to see how the undulating vertical fin LEDs turn out around the base.

Does anyone who pays Urbanize LA for access to their product want to post a fair-use blurb on the proposal?

No renderings yet, but its on the same lot they previously proposed a smaller hotel development. Directly behind the current Residence Inn and north of the Ritz. This new development is about 10 stories taller and includes a mix of hotel and residential.

Quote:
49-story, approximately 631-foot-tall tower featuring a 334-room hotel, 364 residential units on its upper floors. Plans also call for a restaurant, a bar, meeting rooms, a ballroom, and a total of 112,593 square feet of entertainment uses.

Potentially 3 600 footers rising at once? That's good for LA.

Thank you. Even with what little we know, it sounds like a nice addition to the skyline.
