The site is even ready -- from what I've seen.

Funding isn't fully in place for Phase 1. They had some piece of mezzanine loan I believe, but not full financing.

Wouldn't that negate the 12' elevation altogether from the height? I'm seeing 489' 10" from the retail entrance to the top of the mechanical penthouse. . . or is my math fucked up here???

It looks that way but not sure, if so, it unfortunately falls 1 meter short of the official skyscraper threshold.

It does say 501' building height (which would exclude elevation I think) so maybe not tough. It's a bit confusing.

Yeah, and I don't live for it. The sheathing around the garage is superfluous. I mean, they need something for water management, presumbly, but the form and size of it is tawdry. It doesn't civilize or humanize the base in any way that will be welcoming to residents or passersby.

I’m all for the most unique, architecturally sophisticated towers possible.

But I don’t think we are in any kind of position to complain about anything getting built in Chicago right now, particularly something 46 stories.

They got financing back in Jan 2024, it's just that getting the permits took a while

I remember, wonder why it took so long.

Cautiously optimistic, this is the ~500 footer if I'm not mistaken.

Looks like the first phase will still be 500 ft (height to mechanical penthouse). The taller tower at the southern tip of Goose Island got chopped from 65 stories to two shorter buildings. However, with those buildings being 45 and 49 stories, we are looking at potentially two more 500 footers for this project. Phase 1 is 46 stories and just cracks that threshold, so its not a guarantee.

I like that they are setting further back from the river in order to allow for more park space along the riverwalk. This is overall going to be a great project and help Goose Island shed some of its industrial character.
