I can't think of any reason to go to Regina (save for maybe a football game, but I'm not that big of a fan). That's likely Regina's issue, and one I'm sure is not easily solved.

Experience Regina is still the most amazing "official" tourism ad ever made.

The Kramer IMAX is a pretty good reason to go to Regina if films are your thing, as they have a 70mm projector and it's one of the best IMAX theatres in Canada. Rider Games are probably the most notable cultural experience the city has to offer.

Saskatchewan Roughrider fandom is on a whole 'nother level, and unlike Winnipeg which has an NHL team or southern Ontario which has the NHL, NBA, and MLB... the CFL is all Saskatchewan has, so they care about it a lot.

I just think Mosaic stadium should have been considered for a game or two, despite Regina's small size. They would have done the event proud, even more so than Winnipeg, imo, because Saskatchewan cares more about the Riders and their stadium than Manitoba does.

Winnipeg and Saskatchewan have the best two CFL fanbases and the best rivalry, but I still think Rider Nation is in a league of their own. Mosaic Stadium is a slight step up from Princess Auto Stadium, and Rider fans are just next level devoted lol.

Funny you say that because it actually reminds me a lot of the other Commonwealth Stadium, in Lexington Kentucky. It was funny about 20 years ago, we met people on a cruise who lived in Lexington. We went to visit them a couple years later and they took us on a city tour and the stadium was one of the places we drove by. Then they came to London and we took them on a tour. TD Waterhouse Stadium really paled, but the rest of the city fared well by comparison, to them anyway lol.

The fans of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are widely considered the loudest in the Canadian Football League (CFL), with a record of up to 121 decibels measured during the 2022 Banjo Bowl. Other sources and opposing players have also consistently described the crowd as the loudest in the league.

Decibel readings: During the 2022 Banjo Bowl, a sound level measuring app recorded the noise at 121 dB, which is comparable to a rock concert.

Opposing player and coach recognition: Even opposing teams acknowledge the noise advantage. For example, a B.C. Lions quarterback noted that Winnipeg's fans are the loudest in the CFL and that the team had to practice with crowd noise to prepare for the atmosphere at IG Field.

These are the loudest fans in the CFL’: Lions concerned with Winnipeg crowd, not cold in preparation for West Final

According to quarterback Vernon Adams Jr., who was at the helm when B.C. pulled a stunning 30-6 upset over the Bombers at IG Field earlier this year, that change in approach is the only way the Lions can help neutralize Winnipeg’s biggest advantage.

These are the loudest fans in the CFL; we all know that,” he acknowledged. “I think practicing in the dome this week helped. Having the echo and everything, we have to over-communicate signals and things like that.

I've had the experience off Rider fans at McMahon many a time, easily the rowdiest CFL games I've been to, even better than Labour Day, and that says a lot!

Loudest game I've ever been to was in the Saddledome when the Flames knocked the Canucks out of the playoffs back when we had a NHL team lol!

Regina might be in the running as the worst 100,000+ people city tourism market in the country. In a summer of massive tourism, occupancy in Regina was 67%, 2 points lower than Saskatchewan as a whole and 5 points lower than Saskatoon. (granted, I wasn't thinking about London Ontario when I wrote this)
Three years ago, I was driving home from Kelowna and wanted to book a room in Regina on a Saturday night in the summer, one day in advance. There were zero rooms available. I had to stay in Moose Jaw instead. A Best Western at $300/ night. Sometimes the rooms do fill up in Regina.

Princess Auto is vastly superior - I need only point at the Rum Hut. Where else can a drunk young man hang with 5000 other young people at once

Bombers game day experience is unmatched.

Interview with the new Montreal mayor:
https://www.985fm.ca/audio/733228/ll...rtinez-ferrada
When asked about baseball, mentions that <<il y a des grands secteurs en grand dévelopement qu’on devra revoir>> "their are large sectors in redevelopment that we need to review". To me it sounds like the door is open to review of the Bridge Wellington plans, if the private sector presents a credible plan for the return of a baseball team

Lansdowne 2.0 was approved last week. The old 8,500 seat (once 10.5k seats) Civic Centre will be replaced by a 5,850 seat (total capacity of 6.6k). The North side stadium grand stands will be replaced by bleachers, shrinking capacity from 24k to around 21k (harder to find accurate figures).

Ottawa city council approves Lansdowne 2.0, north-side stand revitalization for Redblacks
3Down Staff 3downnation.com November 7, 2025

The City of Ottawa has officially approved the $418.8 million Lansdowne 2.0 project that will see TD Place Stadium receive a new north-side stand.

City council voted 15-10 in favour of the proposal on Friday, just one week after the finance and corporate services committee gave its stamp of approval by an 8-3 margin.

The expansive project, which is centred around the construction of a new hockey arena to replace the current outdated venue, will continue with the proposed demolition of the north stand of TD Place Stadium following the 2027 season. It is expected to take two years for the stands to be rebuilt with improved seating and amenities, in addition to the retail podium and extended parking behind it.

As a result, capacity for Redblacks games will reportedly be reduced to just 14,000 for the 2028 and 2029 seasons — 10,000 less than the building currently holds. Even with temporary stands, that is expected to be a financial strain on a CFL team that averaged 18,136 fans in attendance last year, despite a poor record, and regularly drew sellout crowds pre-pandemic.

Upon completion, the new north-side will have a capacity of roughly 12,400. New suite seating is expected to be made available in the event centre that overlooks the field. The overall capacity for TD Place will still be around 24,000 when it’s all said and done.

The City of Ottawa first recommended the demolition of the arena and TD Place’s north-side stand in June of 2021, following an extensive investigation by two working groups. Last year, the City Council put forth a tentative budget of $420 million for the project, beginning the process of getting zoning approval and accepting bids from contractors.

Construction on the events centre is scheduled to begin in 2026, with the north-side stand coming down in 2028. Work on the stadium will continue until 2030, when work will begin on a nearby residential development.

By “bleachers” do you mean benches and not individual seats ?

I would imagine they could salvage the seats from the existing north side grandstand for re-use in the new one.

So the stands' capacity will go down from 14k to 12.4k, yet somehow capacity remains the same. I guess the two-sided suites in the arena and new fan deck on the arena side, maybe a bunch more standing room elsewhere.

The new north side will have seats. I'm just being dramatic.
