Ya but Toronto is so far away we can still cheer for LA and Seattle which are way closer.

Fuck Toronto

Wow dude you really have this sports thing figured out. You were so far up the Mariners ass until the Jays beat them, but that's OK, you can be an LA fan too. Your odds sure go up when you cheer for an entire coastline! Genius thinking.

What an unbelievable disappointing two days. Game 6 was close, but this, should've been an easier win. We were so close.....Ugh.

Very much appreciated and it's about time someone did.

LMAO.

I guess I'm going to have to post the "Why isn't the Rogers Centre called Rogers SkyDome?" thread as a poll thread on the main Canada board... for Canada's Team!

Out of curiosity, have you ever actually visited Toronto before? And What did the City do to you?

This was the best World Series I've ever witnessed, just too bad about the results.

Indeed - I have never witnessed a World Series with so much drama, so much talent, and so many twists and turns as this one. It was legendary! They will be singing songs about this for centuries to come.

Hopefully the team will stay largely intact, and they can try to do this again next year.

And, oh by the way, if there was a Vancouver Orcas in the MLB, and they were facing the Boston Red Sox in a hypothetical future world series, I would have no difficulty in rooting for the Orcas.

So-much-bitterness-and-parochialism.............

Yup, Vancouver can teach 'em a thing or two about losing in style!

In actuality, it's just sad to see another Canadian team fall short of a championship; whether it be the Oilers, Jays, whoever. Most of us support our fellow Canadians moreso than petty regional resentments.
Indeed. Vancouver holds the title for most disappointing loses. We tried to burn down our downtown, for christ's sake. Denscity needs to chill out. His bitterness is bordering on parody.

Every single person I know was rooting for the Blue Jays here in Vancouver. The pubs and bars were packed every night they played.

If the Toronto Blue Jays didn't exist and Vancouver was the sole Canadian MLB team, I'd probably be a Tigers fan. I can't fault anyone in Vancouver for having a west coast team, I don't expect them to fall in line behind the sole Canadian team from thousands of miles away. I certainly don't default to last Canadian team in the Stanley Cup all the time, although I did this past year.

What I wouldn't be doing is going on message groups and saying "Fuck Vancouver" if they happened to be playing another team in my time zone. It doesn't hurt me if some anti-fan makes comments, it just makes me smile knowing they have nothing to cheer for. My Sens fans friends are like this, they think shit talking Toronto after the Sens are gone is going to be a good jab or something. Sorry, not bothered. Your team gets ahead of mine like they did once a couple decades ago, then you can trash talk with effect. Picking up a new team to cheer for just because you don't like the other team doesn't give you bragging rights. So, this guy upthread, who I've barely heard of and would have to scroll up to get their name again, can go on all they want, it doesn't even rise up to trash talk.

What an incredible and legendary series. A Jays team that had no business being there. They took the defending champions with the highest payroll and just swept the previous team to game seven extra innings.

The thing about the Blue Jays is that they are the one team that captures all people in Toronto. The other teams skew towards demographics. Almost everyone has an interest or nostalgia for the Jays.

I also don’t think I’d have much interest in the Vancouver Orcas 😂

The loss sucks but I am confident that the Jays will be back in the postseason next year similar to the KC Royals back in 2014/2015.

Over the past 10 years, Canadian teams have seen great showings in the various championships (Stanley Cup, World Series, NBA Championship, MLS/CONCACAF Cup) despite everything. It may not feel like it yet but there has been some serious momentum being gained over the decade being driven by spending/investment, and it's easy to see when you can put it in perspective.

Finals appearances over 2015-2025:
  • 2015 CF Montreal CONCACAF Cup Appearance
  • 2016 Toronto FC MLS Cup Appearance
  • 2017 Toronto FC MLS Cup Win
  • 2018 Toronto FC MLS Cup Appearance
  • 2019 Toronto Raptors NBA Championship Win
  • 2021 Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup Appearance
  • 2024 Edmonton Oilers Stanley Cup Appearance
  • 2025 Edmonton Oilers Stanley Cup Appearance
  • 2025 Vancouver Whitecaps CONCACAF Cup Appearance
  • 2025 Toronto Blue Jays World Series Appearance
Other accolades over 2015-2025:
  • 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 Toronto Raptors Division Titles
  • 2015 Toronto Blue Jays Division Title
  • 2015, 2017 Montreal Canadiens Division Championships
  • 2016, 2020, 2022, 2023 Toronto Blue Jays Wild Card Berths
  • 2019, 2022 Calgary Flames Division Championships
  • 2021, 2025 Toronto Maple Leafs Division Championships
  • 2024 Vancouver Canucks Division Championship
  • 2025 Winnipeg Jets President's Trophy
  • 2025 Winnipeg Jets Division Championship

Finals appearances over 2005-2015:
  • 2006 Edmonton Oilers Stanley Cup Appearance
  • 2007 Ottawa Senators Stanley Cup Appearance
  • 2011 Vancouver Canucks Stanley Cup Appearance
Other accolades over 2005-2015:
  • 2006 Calgary Flames Division Championship
  • 2006 Ottawa Senators Division Championship
  • 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 Vancouver Canucks Division Championships
  • 2008, 2013 Montreal Canadiens Division Championships
  • 2011, 2012 Vancouver Cancucks President's Trophy
  • 2014 Toronto Raptors Division Title

I would root for a Vancouver team, but being in the Maritimes I probably wouldn’t watch many of their games as most home and west coast games would probably start at 11pm or later.

8pm AT Toronto games with the occasional late west coast game fits my schedule much better.

If we were able to get another Canadian team again, Montreal would be my first choice. What Canadian fan (except our loud friend in BC) wouldn’t want to see a revival of the Expos and the ensuing rivalry with the Jays? I know I would.

This series had everything, including the LA manager blaming the Jays for him being held up at the US border by US border agents!

Same person who cheered when the Maritimes had their fires this summer.
Guy has a massive inferiority complex and is cheering against anything out East. Ontario and Quebec in particular.

So close and yet seemingly so far.

It's been awhile since i've seen such complete and utter looks of loss on players and fans faces.

Vladi's last look before he left the dugout is one for the ages

Until next year boys. What a run, be proud and heads up.
