I don't get my snow tires on until the 3rd week of November.

Although we might get some light snow showers by around Remembrance Day, with global warming, we really aren't at risk of major snowfalls until just around Christmas time.

I have mine on in the GTA already. Lows are consistently below 7 degrees which is recommended for winters.

I also think there is a good chance we get early snow this year, due to the super warm lakes. That usually means an active, early lake effect snow season. The GTA is generally sheltered from lake effect snow but we can get clipped on the edges.

Just a few years ago we got a dumping in the first week or two of November.

9C and partly cloudy in Moncton at noontime, going up to 12C this afternoon.

Provincial quarter final high school football game last night. Moncton High against their arch rivals Harrison Trimble High. Our record was 3-3, and we just squeaked into the playoffs. Trimble's record was 6-0, but, despite this, we won the game 6-2. Incredibly, every single point was scored on safeties.

Hearing this, you would think that the level of play must have been horrible, but, in actual fact, the games was quite exciting and entertaining. The play was defensively brilliant, but, there were still some high quality long passes and a generally good running game. MHS has a long punter, and, he is capable of a 50 yard field goal. His punts always put HTHS at a poor field position when it was their turn to have the ball, hence why they didn't score any touchdowns. It was a great game.

As I've said before, my youngest son is the special teams coordinator with MHS, He was pretty pumped, especially since special teams probably won them the game. The semi final game next weekend will be in Saint John, against Saint John High School.

I love this time of year for sports. The weather was perfect for the football game, and I was quite comfortable in the stands with a sweater and a vest, No gloves required. Then, it was home afterwards to watch the Blue Jays thrash the Dodgers in the World Series. How could life get any better!

Here in Vancouver it rained steady from 5:30am to 1pm, then heavy rain through the evening hours. I love those rainy nights.

We escaped freezing. Not even close, dropped to 4.4 at my house and 6.0 in Windsor. There's still a frost advisory in effect tonight for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

In BC the 2 I would keep an eye on is Tofino and Saltspring Island.

I'm not sure you can say Toronto ever gets lucky with the freeze list. Pearson isnt exactly well situated for avoiding a freeze. North of Toronto proper, generally, and away from the water.

Crisp start to the day here for sure. Beautiful though.
