Those sorts of structures are used on larger movie shoots, where there are a significant number of extras being used. They're effectively 'holding tents' where the actors can stay dry, close to where the shooting is taking place. The canteen/catering is often set up on the street close by.

Would be really, really something if there could be a few restaurants, lounges, roof party deck and rooftop observation deck.

It would be really cool to see a focus on entertainment in this development. It's perfectly located for it.

Yes, it would be nice to help connect the Granville district with the Queen E / new VAG / stadiums area.

I wonder what we're supposed to make of only six Q&A submissions on ShapeYourCity for all the towers. (One of the questions was asking why there weren't that many questions)

Isn't that a good thing? Less opposition the better

Support, or opposition to the project are unlikely to have much effect on Council's decision, and it seems highly unlikely that the ABC majority would reject it. There are reasons why it might not get developed, at least as shown in the rezoning, but they've been discussed here already, and aren't related to City approvals.

I am confused about where this project stands, although I hope that it - or something similar, gets built. The earlier project looked like an elephant's trunk severed sugically.

There's no changes (yet). It's not been rezoned, but the public hearing should be in early 2026. It still looks like this, but could be changed if/when it gets to a Development Permit

Too bad the Canadian condo market is going to be in shambles over the next few years with less people getting the paychecks to afford such a high-end condo...

I wish they'd just start with the hotel

Urban Design Panel - Supertall Support

Quote:
After a 4+ hour long marathon session, Vancouver’s first supertall proposal has earned the unanimous support of the Urban Design Panel. There were a few minor recommendations, including one to consider increasing the space between these trio of towers.

And based on what was revealed at the meeting, this certainly won't be the last one to come to the panel either

I don't think the time is right to try and push these things through. The closest we have to this already is the Butterfly, and it's not getting good reviews.

Of course it’s not. With Holborn’s history of impeccable timing it amazes people think this will actually happen in their lifetime.

The plaza/courtyard has changed with smaller pavilion buildings.

Pray the Four Seasons hotel replacement is a supertall?
