What about the smell? It's smelled like the river on the sunny days I worked at Harlin. Are you used to it?

The smell? I don’t know what you’re talking about. The air is fresh and clean, other than exhaust from Marine Drive. It only stinks sometimes when the fields are fertilized across the river.

Of all Vancouver’s “new” neighborhoods River District is the best IMHO. Great natural setting, a diversity of architectural looks that don’t look like they were all poured from a can at the same time. Solid shopping without being perched over a mall. I don’t get the hate-on some forumers have for it. The transit criticism is bogus. The 100 runs very frequently, if it was a train people would have no issue with it.

Any excessive praise or excessive criticism seems unwarranted - it's just a different kind of Wesbrook.

Save-On and Shoppers are both overpriced. That’s a valid complaint but at least they’re conveniently located.

The 100 runs every 10 minutes in either direction for most of the day. From there, you can catch Expo or Canada Line so I agree transit’s not really an issue.

I would say that the 31 can be a bit crowded on the trip to Metrotown that I take

Yes, but I’ve never seen it leave anyone behind, though. The problem is it doesn’t run as often.

Are the 'dancing' panels grills?
There seems to be a pattern on them.
Would have been nice if they had added some colour there.

I would like to say that the other day the bus was full enough at the start for a few passengers to be standing, and when they got off the bus driver told people who were at the stop that they couldn't take anymore.

They're grills. High resolution image here.

Seems like it had some log mural on some kind of metal panel facade in the development application.

They still look good.
Sometimes an image may be hard to discern what it is, so the geometric pattern looks cleaner.

Turns out there is a project currently under construction to connect Waste to Energy in Burnaby to the River District, and to put a hot water pipe all the way through.

Following connection to River District, the hot water pipe network will be extended to the Metrotown and Edmonds town centres where the City of Burnaby is developing a district energy utility. The hot water piping routes to these town centres have not yet been selected.

Strange how they don't say the source of the steam is the Burnaby Waste-to-Energy Facility (Incinerator).
