Baseball in Canada

Yeah, that's the idea. It would be an outdoor amphitheater, but no seats, just grass. People would sit on the grass slopes surrounding the field, they could bring picnic stuff and whatnot while watching the game. I think it would turn into a really popular and cool thing.

Baseball, like all of the major leagues (NHL, NFL, NBA) are sowing the seeds of apathy among the majority of potential fans, by catering solely to the wealthy and the uber rich.

Attending a MLB game used to be a regular father-son ritual, something that did not cost hundreds of dollars.

I despise how major league sports abuses their monopoly position to — money out of taxpayers, to subsidize utterly shameless billionaire owners and millionaire players, only to turn around and move teams at a whim.

Taxpayers often subsidize major league sports, primarily by funding stadium construction through public money like taxpayer-backed bonds, grants, and tax breaks. Governments justify these subsidies by arguing they stimulate local economies through job creation and increased tax revenue from ticket sales and visitor spending. However, most empirical studies conclude that these economic benefits are often minimal and don't outweigh the costs, which can divert funds from public services like schools and roads, while the profits flow to extremely wealthy private team owners.

It was amazing thank you.
And living this close to Seattle also means it was on repeat on all of the Spokane channels we get on basic cable here.
Plus we can get the Seattle AM station that broadcasts the Mariners games here at night over the air.

You're more happy Toronto lost than Seattle won, who's kidding who.

Lives "so close to Seattle" that he gets it's AM radio signal, but only at night time. For reference, Castlegar is as close to Seattle as Toronto is to Shawinigan which, as we all know, is basically the GTA.

Jays WIN Jays WIN!

[Zepfancouver]

What a ride the Jays are taking us in, into a game 7, Go! Jays Go!

[Djeffery]

Only one other game 7 in Blue Jays history. Let's hope this goes better than that one 40 years ago. At least there won't be any wind aided triple off the top of the wall lol.

Huge Leafs fans in Shawinigan

But the playoffs are a different story. And sure, Van-Sea might be half the distance of Tor-Det, but let's be honest, that still isn't an onerous distance.

That's true... I saw this map the other day... Canada divided into 4 roughly equal population zones:

I guess many of us underestimate how much of Southern Ontario lives outside of the GTA.

This game is going to be off the hook!

Go Jays! Go Canada!

Actually thanks to the cable tv Spokane coverage it's easy to get swept up in it.
Plus all of my Vancouver friends are lifelong Mariner fans as it's their local team.
But in this country with all 13 sports channels make us cheer for them it's awesome when any Toronto team loses yes.

[Denscity]

Shawnigan lol I'm guessing that's in Quebec and not the one on Vancouver Island?
They have the Habs to cheer for. Our closest team by far for baseball is the Mariners.

Ha well nothing like the bananas Grand Salami.
The better team on paper won.
Luckily the West Coast still has the Dodgers to cheer for. Still way closer to us than Toronto is.
And yes I can get KNX AM 1070 Los Angeles in my car at night believe it or not lol.

[EnvisionSaintJohn]

Pull out that ham radio, Denscity, and tune in those dials, you just became a West Coast Dodgers fan!

The Jays and Dodgers were on a collision course to meet in this world series!

Time for Toronto to meet Shohei.

Too bad we don't get the all star panel up here in the Great White North, but I'm glad Fox Sports puts it up on YouTube in full.
