How cool would it be if we knew this tower was gonna rule instead of suck?

Is this right next door to The Dream Hotel on Broadway?

The shape looks decent, but based on the renderings, the facade will look horrendous.

not perfect but at least it didn't totally destroy the street wall like a lot of other new hotel towers in Manhattan. Especially on the corner lot.

This would be a decent looking building if it had a nice facade, but the green metal panels in the renderings look heinous. It even seems to have exposed concrete floor plates.

I'm despeartly hoping that that is just a horrible, low-quality rendering and that we'll be pleasantly surprised. Cuz Jesus!!

Not to sound like Zapatan, but I doubt it. Riu makes terrible buildings in NY. I can't stand that company.

The new Riu Plaza Hotel in Chicago looks a lot better than this one. But it's still just a mediocre hotel.

The one of 8th seems to have a lot more glass than 1710 will. I assumed that 1710 would have green metal panels. I hope that it doesn’t. Also, I hope that the massive blank areas on the south facade are covered with video screens.

My biggest red flag for the project is nobody's ever heard of the architect. Not always, but most of the time, that's a bad sign.

I just Googled them. They designed Riu’s hotel on 47th St.
