Geez, Seattle looks great. I felt they were going to b e underrated, but didn't expect this. Especially the quality of pitching from the first two guys....who were supposed to be the wink links in the rotation.

I will say this though. The Blue really haven't had much success against Seattle, not just this year but in recent years in general, so maybe it's not a as much of a surprise it as it seems.

Well Seattle seems a lot more similar to Vancouver than Toronto does that's for sure.

They can bring it up to that park on the border then lol.

I would imagine there are a few Twins fans in Manitoba.

I wonder who Quebecers tend to cheer for???
I don't think any place in Canada comes close to as unique as the situation in Windsor.

Minneapolis is almost 8 hours away from Winnipeg in traffic. I don't remember many Twins fans growing up in Winnipeg, but maybe in small town Manitoba? Baseball is certainly very popular in Manitoba.. I guess my grandma was quite the slow pitch star in the small town of Souris, MB.

NB's support of the Red Sox seems to be unlike anything else I've seen elsewhere in Canada, other than the Blue Jays fans. I don't know if there's even more Sox fans in SJ than the NB average, but I swear you see about equal amount of Boston Red Sox caps on people's heads here in the Port City. The only team you see more of than either is the Maple Leafs, which still surprises me.

It wouldn't surprise me that some Vancouverites were Mariners fans, but I'd be surprised if the home of the Vancouver Canadians baseball club had more Mariners fans than Blue Jays fans.

Nat Bailey Stadium, Vancouver

I think it would be great to see a minor league team return to Montreal. I wonder if the Minors would consider expansion to other Canadian CMAs with more than 1 million?

I saw a Tigers game the last time I was in Detroit and I really was impressed with Comerica Park, but I still regret not going to a Toledo Mud Hens game too while I was down there. We went to see the Tigers, because the tickets were cheaper than the Mud Hens tickets. I hear Minor league games have an even better vibe than MLB games, and as a big M*A*S*H fan I regret cheaping out. I did still go to Toledo and Tony Packo's though!

WTF happened to the Winnipeg Goldeyes logo?

I always thought Winnipeg's Ballpark looked great, but I wonder if it would have been even more impressive if the outfield looked towards the downtown skyline instead of looking away from it?

The only people getting this great view of the Winnipeg skyline seen here are the outfielders. Still, I think it's one of the nicer ballparks in Canada.

I remember the Goldeyes being pretty well supported growing up in Winnipeg and excitement for when CanWest Global Park was being built. I also remember really liking the logo and the ball caps being popular at school.

Was shocked to see this is now their logo:

Baseball team rebrands to look like…a fish producer

Always blows my mind when sports teams go from a great logo to something absolutely terrible, but this really does look like a frozen fish brand or seafood chain restaurant. Hope this logo doesn't last long.

A field that faces west is a bad idea. Particularly in the summer with long and late sunsets, the batter's eyes would always be battling the sun. A baseball field either has to face north or east. An east-facing field is no big deal since games are never played in the morning. But since most games are in the afternoon or evening, you can't have it facing west.

I've been aware of the Winnipeg Goldeyes for quite some time. Same owner as Ottawa's Titans. Somehow never knew they were named for a fish.

Judging by the reactions when the Blue Jays score in today's game, it seems like almost 1/4 or so of the fans in T-Mobile Park are Blue Jays fans.

I think when I had seen the Mariners play the Blue Jays in the past I always noticed lots of Blue Jays fans at the games.

I think aside from Detroit, Jays fans might best like having the chance to play the Mariners in the ALCS since Vancouver is so close to Seattle.

IOW, Mariners don't have as much of a home field advantage against the Blue Jays as they do against other teams, because when they play the Jays, there's always a lot of people in the stands rooting for the Jays.

It's not that much of a fantasy. The Detroit Tigers do all kinds of things for their "foreign" fans...they hold special nights at the ballpark, give away t-shirts with "Canadian Tigers Fan" written on them, help fund local baseball groups, players visit kids in Windsor hospitals, etc.

Looked like there were a bunch of enthusiastic Vancouverites at the game. I heard a fair bit of cheering with some of those home runs!

I'm guessing you haven't been to either Seattle or Vancouver for a while, given that you're just LARPing as a Pacific North Westerner at this point from your home in West Alberta. But Vancouver is a Blue Jays town and Seattle gets overrun with lower mainlanders every time the Jays come into town during the regular season.

I can certainly confirm that the Lower Mainland is a BIG Jays zone.
