Is it just me or has this building been under construction since the beginning of time?

It's not just you... it really did start a long time ago. Shoring began in Oct. 2017. So it's been 8 years now...

It's been a decade since this thing was announced, 12 years since another Toronto supertall (Pinnacle One) was announced and a decade since Toronto's other supertall (Concord Sky) was announced. To say the city moves slowly would be an understatement but I expect nothing less of government

I like to think Toronto was lucky to get 3 supertalls U/C before the market toasted... it could have been worse.

The market has far from toasted, it's been roaring for the past 20 years

Agreed. I remember the talk on the forum for some time was if we'd ever get one, now look at us. I'm shocked we're getting a 350 M tower.

Starts have plummeted the last 3 years. The GTA is losing population. the market is toasted.

How long will it be that way? not forever.. but it's flat right now.

Is it the fault of the government that The One is taking forever?

I was under the impression that Toronto is gaining about 100 000 per year...for a long time now.

Covid slowed things down.

Incorrect and/or missing permits slowed things down.

Lawsuits slowed things down.

A receivership slowed things down.

It's been hard times there... for many years now.

3 of the 4 reasons are directly attributable to government inefficiency so thank you for proving my point

Maybe it was 1 of the 4 if the missing or incorrect permits were caused by government being slow to issue them or issued the them incorrectly. The others are not attributable to the government however. Covid would still have existed regardless of how the government responded, and would have caused labour shortages and disruptions due to people being sick (and occasionally dying) as we saw in jurisdictions with a wide variety of policies. The lawsuits were filed by the creditors, buyers and/or retail tenants rather than the government. And while courts are considered a branch of the government, the receivership would never have happened without the developer's financial issues. So government is directly responsible for anywhere from zero to one of those reasons.

Not even 200 posts in and i'm already notorious

I think once this and the other two supertalls in TO are built it will clearly cement the city's spot as the third best skyline in North America
