its going to be nuts down there. I'm surprised it is opening fairly soon, I kinda thought it might not be able to be ready until next year.

I made the mistake of going to Costco on a Saturday, never again, its too much too handle. Surrey/Lanlgey north really could use another store, maybe Maple Ridge.

See how long it takes people to get used to it being a Business Centre. You can't buy a TV or a t-shirt there... and it closes at 6pm daily.

Winnipeg's 4th Costco opens November 13th.. though they're closing an old location, converting it to a Business Centre. Then another new location opens in 2026.

i've seen video tours of the business ones, they have some gigantic items. I miss the old days of Costco when you could buy the business/retail intended things like a big pack of Aero Chocolate bars or gum etc.

looks like they have a temporary sign up trailer on site now and you can see the progress on the site. new paving, new fencing for the outdoor area of the store, etc

Council passed first and second reading on planning recommendations for a land-use application submitted by Costco Wholesale Canade during a council meeting Monday (Oct. 20), as well as a motion that means the proposal will proceed to a public hearing on Monday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. "This is to permit the development of a large-format commercial store and an associated gas station on that site," Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke said at the meeting

I watched a tour of the Edmonton Store, think restaurant stoves, deep fryers, kitchen equipment, 25L containers of Mayo or whatever, meat etc. I think large families might get something out of it. I think it will take a while for the hype to die down. The location is pretty central easily reached from Surrey and Richmond etc

People saying there's a lot of problems with people blocking lanes trying to exit etc. I guess we'll see how bad it is next week. They said police had to come out to keep some intersections clear.

I'm sure that a lot of the people that were causing that congestion are not the people that that Costco was targeted at, and they probably won't visit that location again.

I went there yesterday. Good thing I parked a mile away and just walked. They had police and private traffic control folks managing the traffic. I might go back once or twice a year, as they have some interesting and good selection of cheeses and sausages.
I agree that most people won’t come back for a while and it should normalize in a matter of few weeks.

The cheese selection was fantastic, I might consider going there just for those. Eggs were a great deal too if you have the ability to use 60-180 eggs every few weeks.

It was an option for wholesale meat portions and even had whole lambs, but at that point why aren't you just getting it off the farm.
