The thing in the plan commission is only west of California Ave though, but an additional investment along this corridor certainly wouldn't be a bad thing!

The magic of tower cranes! Seriously though. This build is a textbook example of why every developer building over 5 stories should use a tower crane. I drove past today and they STILL haven’t topped out. According to the YIMBY article below, they completed demo the first of February…they are not even clearing a floor a month on this one! Absolutely crazy to me that we’re in 2025 and construction (on a cookie cutter apartment building) can move that slow.

Ah, gotcha. Multiple stretches of Irving! Good.

^^ This is terrible especially when compared to the Terra cotta accents they tore down to build this. Very banal, tired of developers not even attempting to salvage and reuse anything. It doesn’t cost that much more.

Love the depth, properly-sized bricks, detailed masonry, and especially those black metal transoms. Blends cozy human-scale, ground-floor activation, and industrial sturdiness. They also broke up the horizontal massing into two vertically-oriented bays, which I always dig!

I'll miss the adorable building that used to occupy this spot-- I'm still upset they couldn't save that terracotta medallion-- but this is still definitely the best Hanna design thus far. They might be listening to us lol

No way I would have thought that was from Hanna. They've come a long way (or maybe they're working with a client who isn't a total cheapskate for once)?

In the recent Madison Street Corridor Study document, I noticed a mention of a new XS Tennis development at 2306 W Maypole that I know absolutely nothing abou, and I couldn’t find any information about it googling it either. Of course, I know about XS tennis’s hotel and apartment development in Washington Park, but does anyone know about this one?

Are there any other skyscrapers in chicago that could get a good scrubbing and reveal the natural colors like the Carbide & Carbon building?

This one is probably the prime example of that:

Walked by 205 N Superior today-- looks like the underground levels are complete. I'm interested in what GREC has planned here. There's not much public info available on this one, but apparently GREC was the local AOR for RAMSA's last project in town (One Bennett) so this rendering might be accurate. Who knows?

A tremendous loss for them to build a kitschy knock off building that it only 1 story taller than the original. Sadly this city loves to crap all over its history.

It’s going to be a “gentleman’s club” not the strip club kind but the exclusive nobu/soho type thing. Such a shame what was torn down for this donkey shit concept too.

The Broadway upzone passed the Zoning Committee yesterday. City council passage possibly this week.

Apparently a number of cranky homeowners had to be kicked out of the committee meeting for being disruptive.
