Just learned that Aisle 24 (grocery store) is opening at Zibi. Neighborhood finally has a food option.

There is an Aisle 24 open at 105 Champagne Ave, it opened a few years ago. I think the tech is RFID like Decathlon.

Completely off topic but Decathlon closed their only Toronto area location, it was off the 400 near Canada's Wonderland, Ottawa is the only Ontario location now.

Ottawa is the only Ontario location. Scarborough closed in July I believe.

The architecture in Ottawa is stellar, while Gatineau is really quite drab. I am disappointed that much of the waterfront is taking by space for cars. The Federal office building is separated by the water by a road, and the rear has big ugly garage doors facing the old Board Mill. They should have put the garage entrances at one intersection and had the rest for pedestrians only.

I see what you mean. Between these, the Odenak podiums, the staircase like Moxy Marriott and Relevé (and Renaissance), we're seeing some very interestingly shaped buildings dotting our skyline.

I love the proximity of the podiums and more specifically their ledges on the bottom shelf. Makes it feel very cozy. Love all the little setbacks and notches. If we are going to build structure nut to 🞵🞵🞵🞵 I think this is the way to go about it.

Slightly alarming though, is that I noticed there still isn't a single ground floor commercial unit occupied or even announced.

That's interesting. I live in Scarborough now and I'm at that mall regularly. I could've sworn it was open the last time I was at Scarborough Town Centre .

I got curious and stopped by the other day. There is a system of 2 doors that you open from your app and you scan bar codes like in any grocery store.

Interestingly, they still failed to keep their prices adequate even after eliminating human workers. Kind of a joke TBH, only good for emergency midnight munchies.

The Aisle24 will be opening sometime soon. Surprised at the unit they picked (in the Kanaal buildings north-west corner) due to visibility. Something on Booth could have attracted more people stumbling upon it. Though considering how it works, maybe Aisle24 doesn't attract walk by traffic as much as a regular dépanneur.

Yeah for sure. This concrete super structure is pretty interesting to see in person. Doesn't fit the usual mold of what we are used too. Lop that onto its immediate environment and its even better.

It's interesting the Quebec side right away falls into that Ho-Hum Brigil kind of style but the island is pretty much all eye catching designs, even beyond the standard for Ottawa.

I think its 2 or 3 levels lower.

This one is 23 floors/75 meters vs the existing tower at 25 floors/78.5 meters. I don't think the difference will be perceivable.
