Yeah but it hasn't had a drive thru in forever. No one really counts Walmart locations as full locations for planning. It's why Champlain place and Paul street were right next to one another.

I forgot about the Walmart one.

That will make 11 McDonald's in greater Moncton!

I don't know why people are against, Dollarama, Tim's or McDonald's. All of them serve a purpose, they make money and bring in the customer. What's the problem? Why open a business people won't patronize? McDonald's is the King of fast food, pun intended, end of story, this location will be busy no surprise there.

Contrarianism. I'd be fine with 20 in the GMA if they all did well enough to stay open. The person going to McDonald's isn't suddenly going to stop going to a local place because one opened slightly closer. We're getting one in bouctouche and I'm excited I don't have to drive 25 minutes to Moncton from Saint Antoine. Will I still visit our local restaurants? Absolutely!

Honestly not surprised nor opposed to another McDonald's, however, I do think for we actually lack Tim Horton's (especially after the hospital spot's closure, as limited as their offering was). Though that could be my decade experience in Toronto and being used to a Tim's almost every other block.

I recently bought a drone and I've been happily testing it out. Here is a video I recorded of progress of the new roundabout behind the NBCC. https://youtu.be/_bAJ9aa7KJo

Thanks! Great video.

It is possible to directly post these videos on SSP. If you look on the top right of the post window (where you type your post), you can see a little button with a YouTube banner on it. This allows you to put your YouTube video address (enclosed by YouTube tags) directly in your message, and, voila!!

Video Link

One thing that I find really peculiar is that there seems to be two different sets of curbs where the new street intersects with Mountain Road - what's up with that????

Thanks for the tip, I must of been doing it wrong before and I got a video playback error. Yes that did look weird to me too haha, they are adding a bike/walking path next to the road but its not connected to the curb. I got to NBCC as a student and I cross this new road everyday to go to Sobeys, etc.. So far the first layer of pavement is down and they are now waiting for NB power to remove two power poles inorder to pave the remaining section.

When you put the image address between [youtube} and [/youtube}, don't put in the entire video URL. Remove the bits with https://youtu.be/ from the address, leaving only _bAJ9aa7KJo. This is the important part of the video address.

Just hit "quote" on my last response and look at the part of the YouTube URL that I enclosed between [youtube]} and [/youtube} to see what I did.

As someone who lives in the North End I actually welcome this news. It might sound silly but every McDonalds is out of the way for us when we pretty much go either onto the highway or out berrys mills to get anywhere in the city. In fact we really don't pass that many quick options in our typical driving routes.

This new McDonalds location is super convenient. Its a fast food business that has the most consistent product at a decent price (especially the coffee) if you happen to in a pinch or end up desperate for some late night eats say on the way home from an event. We don't eat out much but I could see myself ending up here a couple times a month.

Not every development is going to be a 6 storey apartment complex. This is a nice infill project that will add a few jobs to the area.

To be clear, I am not casting aspersions on McDonald's (although they are amongst my least favourite fast food options - I prefer A&W).

I am just surprised that Moncton/Dieppe/Riverview can support 11 of the restaurants (although we have about 35 Tim Horton's and lord knows how many Subway restaurants).

I would just prefer more variety in the marketplace. We have a dozen Dollaramas but only one Great Canadian Dollar Store and (as of yet) no Dollar Tree.

It's boring...........

It will be interesting to see how this new McDonald's will affect traffic flow during rush hours. The Timmies at Lonsdale is notoriously difficult to access Mountain Road after going through the drive thru (I usually just hook a U-turn after getting my large tea at the drive thru window and exit back onto Lonsdale). The new McDonalds will have no such luxury. The only egress will be back onto Mountain Road.

It's too bad there is no publicly accessible site plan to see the internal traffic layout. A post on Facebook describes it as a "3-bay Resto", which may mean that it will have three drive thru lanes. There will only be one exit lane back onto Mountain Road however, and traffic is horrible turning right in the mornings. I wouldn't even think about attempting a left turn onto Mountain Road during morning rush.

Apparently they plan to open by mid-March. I can't see how this will be possible unless they plan to pave the lot before the snow flies this fall........

I think the 3 bay is similar to the one on Dieppe Blvd where there is the window to pay, window to get your food and a third window a little further up for those that have orders being made fresh to wait

I suspect it's a lower curb to allow larger vehicles to make the turn, but keeps most traffic to the tighter turn.

Similar to here on Regent Street in Fredericton.

The space in Evergreen Plaza formerly occupied by Knot's Jiu Jitsu (before they moved to the Lounsbury Centre) now has a "leased" sign in the window. This will bring occupancy of Evergreen Plaza back up to 100%

Mama Supermarket is expanding and relocating to the plaza at 1224 Mountain Road (the perpendicularly oriented plaza where Cosmo Prof is located at, next to NBCC Moncton).

A better location to be sure, and, more parking. Mama's is also an "international" grocery store, which will probably go over well with the heavily multicultural student body at NBCC.

Interesting model. They have zero staff, you book and it and gives you a door code and you can bring your own food and (non alcoholic) beverages. Looks like this allows them to keep the costs lower than other areas. Big upfront costs to set this all up but once its going it should be successful if you can keep the bays full. Only downside is the no alcohol part, so you are gonna lose some of the weekend warrior types that might go to the bunker or other sims in town. But i can see how this would have a spot in the market for more serious golfers or people who dont want to deal with the riff raff you get at other spots.

They are using trackman which is the best technology sim wise.
