I also like the mini cluster of towers on Apache that you can see from the 101 too.

Mortenson just won the State Land auction today for 217 acres at NWC of Scottsdale Road and 101 for $136M. Curious what they have planned as they haven't said anything except potential 'mixed-use corporate campus', but the land also is already entitled for heights up to 190' under current zoning.

Wasn't this the land the former Yotes owner was supposedly interested in for the NHL arena? I'm guessing they never would have went to these levels for a purchase price.

I recall that zoning up to 190' was for a number of condo towers planned around the since abandoned 'Paradise Ridge Mall' concept. Hoping they take advantage of that building height in that area - could be some great views from the upper floors.

That area is a village core between 101 and Deer Valley, so I'm pretty sure they have 190' by-right there.

CrowdStrike CEO George Curtz has just purchased Scottsdale Quarter for $645M, they are also working on a mixed-use infill development in Old Town.

For those keeping track at home Curtz now owns the Promenade, the upcoming Parque development at the old CrackerJax site & now Scottsdale Quarter. Could Kierland be next?

Maybe? Could an HQ relocation to Phoenix be coming too?

Should have never given a variance on this project

They fought long and hard to make this happen. In the end, it is a cheap, non-descript looking patio home project - crammed next to each other - asking prices: $6 million - for what ...to share a big community mail box together with your neighbors?
As a kid - I road horseback through this desert.

There's a new tower crane up at the site just east of the Optima McDowell Mountain (what is that going to be?). The crane is... well, the only word for it is "cute". I'm not sure I've seen a crane of that style be so small before.

Saw that yesterday. I've seen those mini cranes for 3-4 story wood buildings that are put up. Wondering if this is related to the medical campus going in over there - or another townhome development?

Figured out what it is. Appears to be the new American HQ for ASM, a Dutch semiconductor business.

https://scottsdale.com/blog/post/asm-inv...uild-new-u-s-headquarters-in-scottsdale/

99% sure it's that as I found some articles where Optima was complaining that the HQ would hurt the value of the condos they're building next to it.

East of it looks like they're building out Miller Rd to connect to that underpass they built a few years ago while expanding the 101. Seems like they may be building something else there too, though, and I can't find any details there.

And then east of that is the Banner Health hospital.

Axon's $1.3B Scottsdale HQ project stalls amid legal battles and political discord

Is Scottsdale really going to blow this? I don't have access to the article, but thought that this was a done deal:

The NIMBYs are suing to block the state law, Scottsdale filed a notice of claim as well but tabled an immediate suit.

Well, it doesn't help that the legislature's actions appear to be counter to the state constitution. See (8) at https://www.azleg.gov/const/4/1.p1.htm

A small tower crane went up yesterday at the site of those condos - north of Optima and the Ilume building on the 101 - that they've been building for the last few years.

At the Scottsdale One site? The 4 big holes in the ground along the east side of Scottsdale Rd?

I thought it was another phase of the condos, but you're right that's definitely Scottsdale One looking at plans for it.

Deal reached with Scottsdale at Axon site, but the NIMBYs may want to continue. The city is apparently progressing with its constitutional battle over referendums.

600 condos, 600 apartments down from 1,900 (or 2,400?) as initially proposed.
