Tut tut, careful forumers will be on you about how xenophobic that is or how just because units never have any lights on that doesn’t mean they’re unoccupied!

OMG - there's only 4 lights on in the (former) Shangri-La in one of those pics!

Maybe they invented electric blinds and brought the technology to Vancouver.

This is how it looks right now. Don't be fooled by the lit up suites, just lights left on by workers.
Not fully completed yet but can be taken occupancy.
From my vantage point it looks empty.

There's been a few units up for rent on Facebook for several months, so I think they must have occupancy. They're horrendously ugly, so I really don't know who's going to rent them.

They look amusingly like an operating theatre.

There's a unit available for sale on the 39th floor. This is probably the highest unit that has been able to take occupancy and list for re-sale.

https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/2...reet-vancouver

The units on the 40th floor and up will be taking the heaviest losses if they need to sell. They averaged around $3,000 per SF when it sold out in 2017.

There is a unit listed on the 7th floor for $1,242 per SF (!)

The Island looks kind of cool but that's about it. It's crazy how much thought went into the podium/tower facade and the amenity spaces, only for the units themselves to look like complete dogshit

Because they weren't built for buyers who would consider them "homes"?

Hence Gillespie's signature on the whiny developer letter to the Feds about letting in foreign buyers.

From what I hear, the finishes are all super pricy. They just look godawful.

I don't know how that sells to the overseas buyers either. It makes it a worse investment. Even if you didn't have to live in it, this would be an embarrassment to own.

I'll never understand why they want with GLASS WALLS for the rooms as if people never hang stuff on the walls in their bedroom or want to feel like they live in a massive studio apartment or something. So dumb.
