This is the land in question for the new residential subdivision:

It looks more like a teardrop shape than a true roundabout, coming to a point on the east (left part of the image), unless this is some sort of illusion. With this odd trajectory would this mean traffic going north on Mapleton will have to yield to the ramp traffic? That would be different and dare I safe, unsafe.

There will be two lanes on all of the roundabout except for going north on the eastern side. This is the reason why there is an odd shape. If it’s anything like other ones I’ve seen, the lane heading north will continue around the roundabout as the outside lane.

The rule is that traffic in the roundabout always has the right of way, but, your point is very well taken.

I don't know the answer. If the intent is to give traffic on the exit ramp the right of way, they will have to make this very evident with a prominent stop sign for traffic entering the roundabout northbound from Mapleton.

Otherwise there will be traffic chaos and multiple collisions.

I wasn't aware it was a double lane coming off the ramp. This makes way more sense, thanks.

Hard to tell by the picture, I hope transport trucks can stay in their lane coming off the highway.

Found this photo on another FB page,

This is apparently the corner of Mountain and Gorge roads in 1973.

That's only 52 friggin' years ago!!!

This was pure countryside back then. Mountain Road was a two lane rural road lined by ditches! Farmland is everywhere! Now it is the heart of the NW end of the city, with near continuous development extending a further 3 km or so to Magnetic Hill in the west!!!

What a change!!!!

FWIW, I can vaguely recall the white house on the extreme left of the image from when I moved to the city in 1989. Now it is a Second Cup.

Had you planned on sharing the photo with us? I don't see one.

Thanks Nashe

This image comes from Facebook.

Unless I want to permanently make a copy of the image for my own uses, I will not save it to my Flickr account. It is close to it's 1000 image free limit, and I want to preserve space without deleting old images that are no longer relevant.

As such, I post the image here with their Facebook address. Unfortunately Facebook image addresses are designed to expire after a week or so (unless accessed from within Facebook). I guess they don't want to be a photo hosting service.

This image apparently was beyond it's "best before" date.

Hurry Curry on Mountain Road has closed, and will be replaced by Himalayan Restro and Banquet.

This is supposedly a "big brand" in Asia, but is relatively new to North America. I wish them well, but, if this is a "big brand", one wonders if they should not have opted for a more prominent location........

Sounds like a load of BS to me. Also the food seems Indian inspired but is Halal? Weird vibes. I'm sorry but I'm never going to trust food coming out of that hotel no matter how many renovations or change of owners happen.

This just popped up on CCD Canada:

Quote:
NB - MONCTON
APARTMENT BUILDINGS, 480 RYAN ST., MONCTON
NEW APARTMENT BUILDINGS
$40,800,000
This was previously reported on SSP, but, now appears to be in the preconstruction phase, with the proponents looking for contractors.

This is the site plan:

Each of the three buildings will have 63 units for a total of 189 units.

Fairly high valuation ($40.8M)

The lot immediately to the east of Wheaton's on Mountain Road, which formerly had an "under contract" sign on it, now is undergoing active site prep. A new business is coming!!!

Chatter on the neighbourhood Facebook group suggests the new tenant will be McDonald's!!!

I personally find this difficult to believe since there are already two McDonald's on Mountain Road, but, multiple people posting on the group all say that's what it is going to be.

Signage for Wild Wing's Roadhouse is now being installed on the former Jungle Jim's on Mountain Road. Interior fit-up has been going on for some time.

I just received a personal communication based on this post, and, yes, the tenant for this lot will indeed be McDonald's (hard as this is to believe).

I guess the two existing Mickey D's on Mountain Road are pretty much equidistant from this location, so, I guess it is possible. The evidence presented to me was pretty compelling.

BY my reckoning, this will be the 10th McDonald's in Moncton/Dieppe/Riverview.

It's not hard to believe. There is a big distance between 900 mountain and 2700 mountain. One by Wheatons area makes sense.

there is already one mcd in Walmart that’s between those two mcd. So total 4, in just that area.
