Delta to Expand Austin Hub with 150 Flights, 15 Gates, and New Lounges
Delta adds 120-125 staff for 50% growth, boosts manager presence, and assigns a dedicated Sky Club manager.

Quote:
Recent leaks from a Delta town hall highlight strategies to reach 29 destinations from 25, enhance connections, and invest in infrastructure while competing for anchor status.

[...]

Delta secures 15 preferred gates (7-22) on Concourse A alongside American, British Airways, KLM, and Lufthansa; Southwest and United shift to Concourse B via underground tunnel. American holds nine gates.

Delta upgrades baggage handling with Claim 2 nearly complete and Claim 3 as overflow, installing RFID this week for efficiency. Claim 3 previously served American exclusively. Delta negotiates a dedicated training room.

The airport handles 400 daily transfer passengers with bags on slow days, marking 800% growth in four months and establishing Austin as a true transfer hub, the largest in Delta’s Central Region. Rough weather, crew, and maintenance issues challenge first-flight performance.

Delta adds 120-125 staff for 50% growth, boosts manager presence, and assigns a dedicated Sky Club manager.

By 2031, staff expands tenfold to 2,700-2,800, incorporating HR, Delta IT, an employee center, and a cargo facility.

A flight attendant base opens on October 1 with 125-150 crew; a pilot base announcement targets late October.
There's a lot more in that post, but I'm not going to copy the whole thing.

The original leak where I saw this (which has now been deleted) said there would be a new domestic destination announced fairly soon that would start service on Nov. 22.

The new destination that will start Nov 22 will be Miami.

Austin, meet your new nonstops: Miami, Denver, Columbus & Kansas City, plus more

Quote:
Editor's note: Originally released on Aug. 22, this story was updated on Sep. 12 to include new nonstop service between AUS and MIA.

[...]

Miami (MIA) – Starting Nov. 22, 2025, customers can enjoy one daily flight to the gorgeous beaches and the vibrant atmosphere of Miami onboard Delta’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

This would be fantastic - especially if they use their A359 or A339neo on the route. Kind of wish it was Air France, but, I'll take it. DL has a good international product.

I took Delta Airlines from Seoul, Korea to Detroit before connecting to my final flight here.

Out of all the cities in Texas, Austin was the only one that had an excerpt. Here it is:

With the upcoming World Cup you may see more international flights in/out of Austin but may be temporary.

I don't think so. Both DFW and IAH will absorb any temporary international routes for this event. However, it is not out of the realm of possibility that AUS' normal routes might see an upgauge in equipment around this event.

Interesting factoid: AT&T Stadium will host the most games in the 2026 World Cup (9). NRG Stadium will host 7.

Does anyone know why so many people are flying out today? Saw a report on KVUE stating around 35,000.

Unfortunately, it seems you may have been using the wrong map.

I wouldn't read too much into that. It's a BBJ and more than likely just Samsung execs. Not necessarily a precursor to a AUS-ICN route.

That is the original email that was sent to me, and yes that was my first post, but I have been on this form since 2008. What is fake about the email?

It's not about the email. It's the link to the email that requires a passcode/email/password to sign in. "https://login.microsoftonline.com/xxx" is sometimes used to gain access to MS accounts. If the link is legit and someone already has an Office360 with Outlook account setup, maybe they can see the email with no issues.
But otherwise, anyone wanting to see the email will have to create a new email account. Most people won't want to do that. It would be easier to just post an image of the email or the text.

What did the email say? I'm not going to login to any link posted on this or any other board. Too many security risks.
