Looking forward to the bike ride across that bridge and onward to Fort Sask now!

^ So my question is why a full road bridge was not built with a bike /walking path under it?

That area is being developed with housing between Raven Crest and The Quarry golf courses plus the northeast Park and the only way to get around to get to these sites is by the Henday and Manning Freeways which are both huge detours.

Yup, don't think there's much demand for people to drive to farms or Highway 21 on the other side of the river. Just take the 5 minutes to get onto the Henday SB or Manning NB

I think there is a vision for a bypass on the south of fort sask that will bridge over in the future... not sure if that's still in the plans or not. Think would connect right where 28A is at Manning.

Ah yes, I remember seeing that proposal somewhere, maybe the former EMRB growth plan? In any event, a bridge there won't happen for decades at least, considering they just finished twinning the existing bridge to the Fort.

^ I guess my thought was the fact you have 3 golf courses and the large North East Recreational center that the city wants to develop in the area plus 167 Ave is a major arterial road going east which would connect directly to Highway 21.

Living in North East Edmonton the amount of development is impressive and maybe a proactive instead of reactive approach to road development is preferred.

There's a northeast recreational centre that the City wants to build? Clareview is already there, no?

3 golf courses dont really bring much traffic to warrant a major river crossing. Those things are expensive, and hard to get federal approval for (amongst all the other hurdles a new vehicular river crossing would entail)

Thank you! Yesterday was for the River Valley ARP.

I may have missed updating this thread in regards to the bike park, but in the last few weeks council has blessed the EIA, and we have received our DP and MIA.

Shovels in the ground baby!

#EDMBikeParkBuild Update 5.0 Thoughts from the Woods
Writer: Edmonton Bike Park
Edmonton Bike Park
2 min read

When you walk through the build site right now, you hear more than machines and tools. You hear laughter, conversations, and the kind of energy that only comes when a community rallies together to create something bigger than themselves.

This Bike Park isn’t being handed down by a city planner. It isn’t just a construction project dropped into the Valley. It’s the culmination of years of local riders, volunteers, and advocates pushing, building, and dreaming.
