The second smoke stack is being installed today. Also they are tearing down the old building.

^ I like it, at least on that section (still not sure about the full wall portion on the left) but I'm also very unsure this is going to age well.

Not my favorite look. To me it gives the appearance of a bad siding job that slumped.

Would have preferred stone like the old Cliff Plant. Hopefully the vegetation will grow around quickly and make this look better.

In the video, it looks as if the heating plant's roof-top park will blend into the small park under the Supreme Court. Maybe that is why the NCC felt that it had to get rid of those 'invasive' Norway Maples'.

Took this paddling on the river today in golden sunset. It's giving a bit of Gehry vibe. I think this is my favourite building under construction right now.

You know what? You might be onto something there. During the last night of fireworks I was tempted to go down that "parking ramp" for lack of a better term, separating the two. I could see at the very south end of the lower Supreme Court park it was just temp fencing.

It seemed very much open though otherwise, aside from them redoing all the railings on the lower lookout.

I don't know why they had to cut all the trees though.

I think we have people on this board that are much more knowledgable on the subject than I am, but in my experience Norway Maples are super destructive - I just had to pay $4000 to take down a bunch that were wrecking our garage.

Would be outstanding if they can make one continuous park there. One of he best spots in Ottawa.

I was super sad to see the trees go as well, but I now think it's part of stabilizing the cliff. I was watching them put rock bolts and wire mesh the other week, it seems like they'll probably apply shotcrete on portions of it to keep it from crumbling into the pathway below. That concrete pathway culvert tunnel is gone where you had to "walk your bike", I hope it doesn't return in some form or another.
