And now it's Vancouver's turn to hit the world's worst air quality lists, coming in at #3 right now.

What a weird list, Montreal is listed on the worst (109th) and best air quality (22nd) in the world lists. Calgary has brutal air quality today and isn't mentioned lol.

A lot of those readings are anonymous submissions. Guy could be smoking a stogie next to his machine and upload it.

Not that I am saying there is no smoke in Vancouver, but then you get wildly disparate uploads like this:

Yeah, watching all the live cams in BC, this is the first day I would call smokey as well. Still not the worst IMO (the fact the sky is still a hazy blue and the ground still has strong shadows in the sun), but not great either.

Smoke is just going to be a normal part of summer for pretty much every location in North America for a while. Until the forests balance out two major factors: The excessive crowded foliage and ground litter created by over a century of fire suppression, and the movement of ecosystems by climate change. Together, these two have decades of work to do.

Another beauty day at Algonquin.

You can see why people flock to this area when the leaves start to change colour.

It was a late surge. I was watching the stations and by 4PM, no station was warmer than 38.7C or something like that. Ashcroft had the 5PM surge which Lytton did not have.

Anyway, it's definitely dynamic weather conditions. For once we are NOT having a 🞵🞵🞵🞵 weather while BC is in heat wave mode.

Northern Ontario is having the balancing monster cold wave. I was looking at the radar this afternoon and look what I saw...

Closest community to that blue spot I could find was Geraldton. Current conditions are rainy and a 2.5C temperature. I invite you to check tonight's forecast. I will not post a screenshot.

26C with a humidex of 28 and sunny. 9.5/10 day. I need a little more humidity for a perfect 10, dewpoint was in the 11-12C range.

Low of 15C this morning.

The warmspot was was Ashcroft, BC at 40.8C. That is a new all-time September high in Canada.

The warmest low was Summerland, BC at 18.2C

It looks like Google weather has a new symbol for something:

Apparently though, it's not smoke, the brown sun is the new symbol and is being used everywhere.

Yeah, I had a feeling Ashcroft was going to steal the crown today.

Lytton did manage to hit 39.8 today, and Nelson surprisingly also hit 39.8.

On the flip side, the last couple hours Winnipeg has been hovering between 2 and 3 degrees...

21C and sunny in Moncton at noontime, going up to 26C later this afternoon.

It's Atlantic Balloon Fiesta weekend in Sussex. NB, always a good time!

From the balloon launch this morning. Those towers in the background are part of the now closed potash mine in Sussex. Still lots of potash in the ground, but, Nutrien closed it about 5-6 years ago to focus on their business in Saskatchewan.

I see those wonderful photos of Algonquin Park and think 'it's only a matter of time before that all burns' given the old growth, fire suppression and visitor traffic the Park gets that may inevitably lead to some human-casued wildfires. Unfortunate and hopefully that doesn't happen, but I'm not hopeful...

You aren't wrong. Today's conditions would've helped with that issue though

Canada Geese look downright majestic in the right location

Still smoky in Vancouver today, partly cloudy with filtered sunlight, a high around 23°C, and a humidex of about +6.

28C with a humidex of 31 and sunny. Absolutely perfect day.

For harls, no pictures of dead trees this time.

Low of 17C this morning. About as perfect as it can be for sleeping with windows open.

The warmspot was Lytton, BC at 38.8C. The historic heat wave continues.

Warmest low was Summerland, BC at 18.6C.
