Right! This year it will be 24 years anniversary, not 25 years. But not yet. You have to wait for next year. Just be patient.

Since the foundation exists, this could be 20 stories above ground by the 25th Anniversary.

A typo like that in an official press release just gives you a glimpse into how poorly run Silverstein Properties is.

That's not a typo. That's his name. Duan He.

Anyway . . .

We are so blessed to finally be getting this remarkable tower.

1,230 feet tall and 1,350+ to the tip of the spire.

That's basically the Empire State Building.

Downtown will be rocking and rolling.

ESB was built nearly a century ago, while decent for downtown NY could do better. I'm more concerned about the design at this point since 1,200 ish feet was always expected.

While this is wishful thinking I wonder what chance there is for them to scrap the spiral plan and build 5WTC as the tallest and best looking of all of them, it could be the new signature tower of the site.

While it probably won't happen I don't think anything is set in stone yet.

It is fine. We still have 80 South Street to look forward to. Not to mention that there are probably still several sites in Lower Manhattan with good air rights that are available. It is not the end of Lower Manhattan.

80 SS is just a proposal, nothing set in stone.

Which sites are you referring to?

This map shows the amount of air rights in Manhattan. Scroll to Lower Manhattan to see potential areas.

It looked awful when it was taller without the spire, a jumbled mess at best with way too many setbacks and the unnecessary trees up there. A tall glass box with way less or no setbacks would fit in the complex much better. They seem to be throwing random designs out at this point.

It’s not random. It’s where the commercial market is moving for a vast majority of commercial spaces.

Something similar to 1 Manhattan West would look much better in that spot. If it was about 1,250 to 1,300 to the roof it would fill in the gap with a building of absolute height without all the needless setbacks. That building is very new so tall glass boxes are still very much in demand.

The plan by Brookfield for that site was first envisioned in the 90's with the current iteration of Manhattan West was designed circa 2013, while its occupancy is relatively new the design is not. If tenants want outdoor space then developers are going to give it to them.

Manhattan is starting to see a new spurt of office development.

Boston Properties announced in June that it is moving forward with construction of its $2 billion, 1 million-square-foot office tower at 343 Madison Avenue after securing an anchor tenant.

Vornado Realty Trust, the Rudins and Ken Griffin’s Citadel are working through the public review process for their 1.8 million square-foot tower at 350 Park Avenue, and Larry Silverstein has struck a deal with American Express to kick off development of his long-awaited 2 World Trade Center.

RXR and TF Cornerstone are planning to lock in an anchor tenant by year’s end for their planned tower at 175 Park Avenue.

I saw that too. Finally. The tortured saga of 2 WTC was just ridiculous.

Lower Manhattan's skyline will get a long delayed, very prominent boost.

False alarm. The article has been edited:
