Which everlasting thread is the biggest tease on this forum? This one or City Centre adjacent bridge to nowhere? I'm sure there are others but these two keep me awake at night.

I've long given up on 900 Albert. My vote is for this one. Actually, my vote is Ascent second tower, weirdly enough.

I think Sky and 900 are both going to happen. Too much going on at Lebreton for that bridge to nowhere to exist forever and Dow's continues to be a massive hot spot for new development.

My old building at 267 O'Connor is another ongoing tease...

Brigil towers on Catherine is a big one for sure.

Are you implying you don't support your local downtown grocers sir?

Harley is referencing an Ottawa Citizen article where another arm folder came out and talked about her tomato garden. Which is a valid individual concern for sure but the hilarity over these puff pieces that come out every time is a bit much.

Why don't some of these sad sack "journalists" talk about how projects get approved with XYZ and then get switched up to junk?

The tomato one always annoys me because people in this forum hold her up as a terrible nimby but what she actually said in the article was that she was sad she wouldn't be able to grow tomatoes on her balcony anymore but was supportive of the project because we need more housing.

This poor woman gets mocked for being willing to make a small personal sacrifice for the greater good.

If you live anywhere within 10 blocks of the absolute centre of a city of 1.5 million people, you should expect that maybe at some point your single family home might be shaded for a few hours a day by a large building... Just saying.

Especially if you live along the highway, where these types of buildings seem to be well suited.

We can't be identifying every single family home and then place a December daylighting height restriction cone around each one. Sorry. People can move if they need more daylight.

I used to live along Bank, and one of the new condos resulted in shade until 1:00pm every day. I got over it after a couple weeks of 'oh, that's unfortunate' when the formwork blotted out the morning sun. My plants moved to the west windows, where I also got sun until about 6pm and it was blotted by the next building.

Richcraft's high-rise proposals seem to have all gone vapourware. Even Place des Gouverneurs is off their website. That one really puzzles me, the potential being right next to Cyrville Station seems weird to go dormant for decades (it was planned way before LRT), while locations a bit farther like LUXO have gone full steam ahead.

The tomato lady never said she thought that her sunlight should be preserved. She said exactly what you just said - "it's unfortunate but we need more housing so I'm supportive of the project". She was in favour of the Catherine St. project but she gets consistently ridiculed in this forum as a nimby, despite being exactly the opposite.

I agree. She gets way too much flack considering she actually supported the project.

Place des Gouverneurs' next phases will probably need a complete redesign based on Ottawa's much different built form and transit options. Could be 5 to 10 years to come up with a new proposal, followed by another 10 to 15 years before the build.

Richcraft has a slow and steady approach, and when they finally do build, it's usually very well executed.
